If you take the long view, think back to how people felt during T. Roosevelt's reign of the Trustbusters, then W. Wilson and his League of Nations, and then FDR with his Commie advisors, Social Security and Uncle Joe. Teddy is the least powerful of that lot.
And the least intelligent. And the least influential. And the least qualified to lead.
