"Two-thousand ducks found dead near Oakley"
05:20 PM MST on Wednesday, December 13, 2006
KTVB.COM
ARTICLE SNIPPET: "BOISE - More than 2,000 dead mallard ducks have been found in the Magic Valley.
A Fish and Game spokesperson says that it is unlikely bird flu in a cause in the mass deaths, but an investigation is underway.
Preliminary diagnosis is a bacterial infection is the likely cause, said Magic Valley Fish & Game supervisor David Parrish. State veterinarians in Boise have found the lung tissue of the ducks to be full of white and yellowish bacterial abscesses. They also found hemorrhaging around the heart. At this point in time, however, we are not ruling out any potential cause.
The ducks were found about 15 miles southeast of Burley near Oakley. The investigation is probing nearly every aspect of the ducks and surrounding environment.
All responsible agencies are doing everything in their power to ascertain the cause of mortality, Parrish said. Tissue and water samples have been collected by local, state and federal investigators, and we are currently running tests."
Very interesting read, Oorang!
That does not sound good. Thanks for the heads up.
Well you know, Senator Edward Kennedy keeps getting it wrong and calling him Osama...

SNIP: 'We are seeing a considerable number of young women among the radicals. Often they are converts of Dutch origin, and who become a strong driving force in some networks.'

FBI divers search Spokane River for "evidence"
SPOKANE -- FBI dive team members from across the country are searching the Spokane River near the Seven Mile Road bridge. Agents will only tell KREM 2 News they're looking for "evidence" from a federal investigation. However, at this point, we don't know for what case or exactly what kind of evidence. Divers are searching the Spokane River for evidence. Members of the Spokane County Dive Unit are assisting with the search, which began Tuesday. The FBI says the search will continue until there's no reasonable chance of finding the evidence.

Thursday, December 14, 2006

"David Duke in Iran"
Commentary by Joseph Farah
Posted: December 14, 2006
1:00 a.m. Eastern
COMMENTARY SNIPPET: "When Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad repeatedly threatened to wipe Israel off the face of the map, the world collectively yawned.
When he denied the Holocaust ever happened, few paid attention.
When he threatened to destroy the United States, few noticed.
When he was accused as an accomplice to murder of an Iranian dissident in Europe, no one cared.
(Column continues below)
When he openly embraced and supported terrorism, including the recruitment of thousands of suicide bombers, there was little protest.
When it was learned that he was actively involved in the holding of 52 American hostages at the U.S. Embassy in Iran in 1979, few eyebrows were raised.
When he said he was determined to pursue nuclear power for his country no matter what Americans and Europeans thought, presidential candidate John Kerry suggested we supply the uranium for a pledge to use it for peaceful purposes only.
When he said he believed he had a special, personal role in ushering in the Shiite Mahdi or 12th imam a mystical messianic figure who will trigger a worldwide apocalypse, most people just shrugged it off.
When he said he would gladly sacrifice half of his nation's population to destroy the Jewish state, most Americans chalked it up to rhetorical overkill.
When he accused President Bush of being a tool of Satan, no one in the United Nations audience lost any sleep.
But I think maybe now he has gone too far. He invited Ku Klux Klansman David Duke to speak at a conference in Iran.
It's going to be awfully tough for Ted Kennedy, John Kerry, Howard Dean, Jimmy Carter, Mike Wallace and others of their ilk to continue to pretend Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is really just a reasonable guy somebody America can work with.
I mean, it's one thing to threaten America and Israel with nuclear annihilation. It's another to invite David Duke to dinner. Ahmadinejad may have overplayed his hand this time."

"Radio Free Iran"
By S. Enders Wimbush
The Weekly Standard | December 14, 2006
ARTICLE SNIPPET: "Iran looms intractable on America's radar, while the Bush administration casts about for nonmilitary weapons to use against it. Although President Bush insists that we are in a war of ideas with Iran, he has yet to unlimber some of America's most potent instruments to fight it. Chief among these should be the Persian-language broadcasts of Radio Farda. But, like most of America's international broadcasters, the station has fallen into the public diplomacy trap of advocating for America rather than stimulating debate within the targeted society.
Originally intended by Congress to operate as Radio Free Iran, the station was abruptly morphed into Radio Farda ("Tomorrow" in Persian) in 2002. It now broadcasts chiefly music and American popular culture aimed at Iran's kids. Mostly gone is the "ideas" menu--history, culture, religion, economics, law, human rights, labor, business, critical thinking--employed to great effect during the Cold War by its parent organization, Radio Free Europe / Radio Liberty, whose intended listeners were critical elites and the populations that supported them.
To become an effective instrument in the war of ideas, Radio Farda should be completely overhauled, not just tinkered with. Six strategies are required, all of them based on proven RFE/RL choices and methods."
