What not just sell it cheap? Give the world a chance to see if French wine is any good.

Based on the French wine I've tasted over the past few years...it isn't. I doubt Wal Mart could get away with selling it as a bargain.

Regards, Ivan

Maybe the French should reconsider the "box of wine."

At least the foreign wines are not riddled with sulfites like the California wines...ugh...gives me migraines...

I am very into the Breede Valley, South African wines right now....verrrrry nice!

Could this be the free market at work? Has France fallen behind in grape technology?

I've read that 2005 and 2006 were wonderful growing seasons and have produced such a bounty that prices have plummeted. In Europe I have also read there is so much supply that prices for excellent French wines have collapsed.

Unfortunately the prices are still holding up in the US.

By the way I had 2006 Beaujolais Nouveau on Thanksgiving and thought it was just fine.
