Waxman calls it oversight.

New Left Stalinist, America-is-bad “Oversight” and an American wartime administration (redux):

It means harass, harry, hound, badger, pester, plague, bait, annoy, bother, irk, plague, hector, nag, pester, keep after, torment, distress, browbeat, bully, bait, heckle, needle, ride, tease, rib; also, to trouble persistently or incessantly; systematic persecution by besieging with repeated annoyances, threats, demands, or misfortunes; unrelenting pursuit to gain a desired end; to nag or tease persistently; to inflict a succession of petty annoyances; the infliction of tribulations, such as worry or vexation, likened to an epidemic disease; to torment by or as if by taunting, insulting, or ridiculing. (Thank you, American Heritage)

In a word, Watergate.

For the U.S. military the word is BOHICA.

For our Iraqi friends the word could very well be Bloodbath II.

Senator Byrd would probably help Murtha out and take a couple weeks off to read to him the section. Of course it would take about 4 weeks if Murtha asked any questions.

Because Murtha can't seem to grasp simple truths?

Sunshine Patriot

Thomas Paine, 1778:

"These are the times that try men's souls. The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of their country; but he that stands now, deserves the love and thanks of man and woman. Tyranny, like hell, is not easily conquered; yet we have this consolation with us, that the harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph."

"Winning is not a strategy, victory is not a strategy."

That's right. Winning and victory are goals, not strategy.

"here’s a plan that we have, and Speaker Pelosi has signed on to the plan I have,...redeployment of our troops"

That means bring the troops back home. What will that accomplish. It will romove the only effective opposition present in Iraq and the region to the jihadis recapturing control of Iraq. Jihadis recapturing control of Iraq is what the goof murtha is after. He calls that condition "stability". Yeah, that's a plan. Give the jihadis a stable environmnet to opperate in. They can then procede to kill off the peaceful folks, burn down the oil industry and cut global warming significantly.

I'd rather turn murtha into an aerosol cloud in the stratosphere to cut global warming. That's my plan.

This just in!

On Fox's The Beltway Boys Mort Kondrake (probably misspelled) predicted that Pelosi will ask Murtha to step aside and that Steny Hoyer will be the next House majority leader.

It's cold comfort, but I'm praying Murtha doesn't get the leader post. Denying him the prize he's been seeking since he slandered the Marine would be sweet. Mort K. usually has his finger firmly on the pulse so there's hope.

President Bush has no less power than President Reagan did, indeed he has substantially more... However, President Reagan seemed to have a lot more of what President Bush lacks: leadership. Reagan leadership meant by-passing recalcitrant liberal roadblocks in the House and Senate and going directly to the people. He had the ability to explain things in simple terms (so even I could understand them, perhaps even you). I knew what "Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall!" meant ... I knew what "Go ahead, make my day" meant ... I knew what he would do with Qaddafi's "Line of Death" and why we needed items such as a 600-ship Navy, Star Wars SDI Defense, and tax relief for "Morning in America" to flourish. But when Reagan left and his successors took his place I was confused. I was apparently confused about what "Read My Lips" meant, what the meaning of "is" is, and now I'm confused about what "Stay the Course" means.

Last time I checked, the Presidency still constituted an equal branch of government capable of checking Congress.

I have decided to agree with Murtha.

We need to redeploy our troops from Iraq.

LETS GO TO SOMOLIA; IRAQ; SYRIA...

Thanks for the report on this, Red. It would be some consolation that he doesn't get a leadership position. I believe Pelosi realizes he losing his marbles and wouldn't be able to do a competent job.

I just saw a Congressman on MSNBC (some white-haired guy from WVA) who said he was against Hoyer as leader because he was "pro-war". Instead, this fool kept talking up Murtha.

Kind of odd considering that the position is an appointment. Seemed to me that Murtha is sending out his flying monkeys, hoping to drum up support to pressure Pelosi.

I can't wait for the Communist Trifecta of Rangel, Conyers and Hastings to hold sway over Capitol Hill. It will usher in the shortest-held majority in history.
