Subtle gong alert, scrolled on the bottom of the screen.
A bunch of clowns from the freak show were elected last night, you don't turn around the damage that creates in 2 years, and what do you say to all the brave men and woman we have in Iraq today that we don't seem to support?
ABC reporting that AP is saying Rummy will step down.
Never thought I'd see the day, that I would be missing Lincoln Chaffee.
BREAKING ON FOXNEWS
AP is reporting that Rumsfeld is stepping down.
It's on FOX too. How stupid! Stupid! Stupid! Stupid!
I'm crying...
sw
Ahh ABC the people that brought you Foley Foley Foley!
Per Fox:AP says DR stepping down
Oh no.
Rush saying it for sure now - RUMSFELD RESIGNING.
The American people let down the military last evening...for that....there is nothing we can say to them that will make them feel good about fighting this war....
Oh, in the name of God does ANYONE in the Bush administration know what they're doing?????
Eight years is just too long for one man to be President.
HUGE mistake...
Me too....this really breaks my heart. Damn..
damn it
AP:
Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld, a key target of Iraq war critics, gave no indication Wednesday that he planned to step down in the wake of Democratic midterm election gains, his chief spokesman said. Eric Ruff, the Pentagon press secretary, said he participated in meetings with Rumsfeld on Wednesday morning and heard no talk of changing war strategies or of Rumsfeld leaving his post.
If this is true....
Bush, right don't you just pour salt in the wound.
I'm beginning to hate this man.
this is just so sad. Several weeks ago I remember Bush saying that Rumsfield would stay ON throughout Bush's term in office!!!!!!! If Bush caves now, we will all lose hope.
Oh this really sucks. I can take the election results because there will be another chance but Rumsfeld???
"I'm crying"
Me, too! Pass the tissues!
God Bless, Secretary Rumsfeld!
FOXNEWS CONFIRMS
Rumseld is stepping down. Resignation effective immediately.
Absolutely!
It's definitely too long for one party to be in power.
Let the handicapping begin
Let's see Rumsfeld's successes: 1)Captured Bin Laden at Tora Bora. 2) Assured complete defeat of Taliban in Afghanistan so that they wouldn't keep hanging around mucking up the works. 3) Ensured relative security for troops operating in Iraq by aggressively destroying and instilling fear in the radical populations in Iraq. Oh wait, none of those happened.
1) Bin Laden was allowed to escape because we had so few troops on the ground that local warlords were allowed to dictate military strategy. 2) See #1. 3) Too few troops and putting existing troops in a defensive rather than offensive role ensures what is going on in Iraq right now.
When your doctrine is to use underwhelming, rather than overwhelming, force, you will not win wars. It is the same doctrine that lost us Vietnam, and Bush won't let himself become LBJ to Rumsfeld's McNamara.
FOX: Confirmed.
Those Rummy news conferences at the beginning of the war were great! So entertaining to see him smack down the dummmy reporters.
Well, maybe a new strategy will be a good thing.
Why now and not two weeks ago? This is crap.
The American people collectively spit on our troops last night.
That's what I'm hoping this news is!
I'm going to puke.
sw
Jeeze and Tester just won the Senate Seat. No wonder i'm feeling all discombobulated!
Almost seems like he is trying to drive the GOP away.
Exactly - Rumsfeld is just a bureaucrat - he enacts whatever policy Bush & Cheney & Rice tell him to enact.
Dubyah is the one who flinched, and decided not to visit Armageddon upon the Muslims, and the result is that the Muslims were emboldened and realized that they could "win" this thing at the ballot box, just like the Russkies & Chicoms & North Koreans did in the Korean "War" [really the Korean "Nation-Building Exercise"], and just like the Russkies & Chicoms & North Vietnamese did in the Vietnam "War" [really the Vietnamese "Nation-Building Exercise"].
The irony of all of this is that Dubyah forcefully renounced the whole idea of nation-building exercises during the 2000 debates with Al Gore, and if he had only stuck to those promises, then everything would be hunky-dory today.
Really! Why NOW?! Our poor troops....
This is unbelievable. If he was going to fall on his sword why didn't he do it months ago? I am pissed.
Hang in there. :)
The President suffers a humiliating defeat at the hands of anti-American nutjobs....and he throws them Rumsfeld? Has Bush lost his mind?!
This is all about a deal with the Dems. I willing to bet a lot of money Pelosi said, Rummy is out or we begin impeachment proceedings.
Why now and not two weeks ago? This is crap.
***
Wasn't it within the last week or so that the President said he still had confidence in Mr. Rumsfield, blah-blah-blah...the usual BS?
I guess we should learn that when the President comes out with such huge amounts of praise for someone, that person's days are numbered.
How do you know it wasn't Rummy himself who wanted to get the Hell out of Dodge?
God! This is so disgusting!
Could it be that Rumsfeld has just had enough?
I agree. He picked a hell of a day to do it! Not that I would like it to happen to Rummy any day.
It's like when a coach gets the dreaded "vote of confidence" from the owner, you know he's doomed.
Can anyone tell me if this will be on C-Span and which one? I just got home and don't have time to scroll through this thread. Thanks.
It aint that. Rummy is gone.

This is what I was thinking. He might have decided it was just better to get out now.
Let's make a pact to stay the heck out the Bushes! Let them sail away.
Damn! How does he explain this to his troops?!
I'm so angry I could just spit.
