POLICE cordoned off a quiet residential streeet in Cheshunt after a Wild West-style pistol, a cache of bullets and a stun gun were found dumped there.

Norman Sidnell, 79, of Roundmoor Drive, was stunned when he uncovered the deadly arsenal of weapons in a black holdall in the street outside his home on Thursday.

The widower said: "I thought it was a black plastic bag. I went to pick it up and it seemed so heavy.

"I opened it up and inside was a Tesco carrier bag tied up. I was shocked at what I found - it was exactly the same as the six shooters you see cowboys use, with a barrel seven or eight inches long. "There were also at least 30 bullets in there, and a black plastic box with wires coming out, which I was told by a policeman was a stun gun."

Mr Sidnell drove straight to Cheshunt police station in Turners Hill, Cheshunt, and handed over the bag at reception.

"They were quite surprised!" he said. "It's a bit of an unusual find."

A Hertfordshire police spokeswoman confirmed that the revolver was an old Smith and Wesson model.

"It has been recovered by officers and its ownership is being investigated," she said.

When I think of the Wild West I think of a SAA not a Smith. When I think of a cache I think of a cave full of ammo, not 30 rounds.

30 rounds? That wouldn't do me for a warm up!

If they think THAT is a deadly arsenal let them come to my house and have a look in the gun safe.

I'm sure my safe's contents could cause cardiac arrest in the average anti-gun liberal. But that's not saying much. And I know a guy who ... well, never mind that.

ha ha. Probably shouldn't have tried it on himself. "Yes, it does work."

They sealed off the street for an old revolver and a handful of shells? Gee, then they would have sealed off the whole town if they looked in the trunk of my car.
