Genetics is the most important factor, of course, but that is beyond the control of the individual. You can't choose your parents, but you can choose your diet and exercise, and assure good nutrition and health habits.

A glass? One?
Work is the curse of the drinking class.

When I went for a physical in San Diego, my doctor commented that Mormons and lesbians were the healthiest groups of people that she sees on a regular basis.

If wine consumption or other moderate consumption of beverage alcohol is beneficial, then why do teetotaling Mormons have better health than other groups in society? IIRC, Mormons don't smoke, either, which probably raises their health and longevity statistics.

I found one a few years ago. It was a Spanish Police Wine with a police car on the label. It seems the winery bottles a certain amount each year the proceeds of which go to support the police.

No sacrifice in moderation. It's not like you have to grab your bottle of TB and go down by the tracks with the winos.

Many Europeans start drinking wine before puberty. Just watch your liver enzyme level.

What's going to happen when the baby boomers hit that "A" age? There will be an explosion of nursing homes being built.
My father died four years ago of AD - the death rate from this horrid disease is increasing every year. My mom died two weeks ago of cancer. But yet you see the biggest fund drives for AIDS while thousands upon thousands of Americans are dying from the same two diseases which took my parents.
And bless you for the work you do.

Actually, its more than likely that its the grape skins that are causing the beneficial effects. Eating grapes will likely give you the same effect(it's also proven that eating grapes gives you all the other effects of red wine(i.e. the thinning of blood/etc.)) If you don't like drinking then this is a way to get the benefits.

Like i said in my post above, you can get all the benefits of red wine by just eating the grapes, it's not the alcohol in particular that gives you all the health effects, it's the grape skins.
