Why don't they read the Bible and apply its lessons, rather than use it as a magic decoder ring?

Why don't they read the Bible and apply its lessons, rather than use it as a magic decoder ring? I don't like the way some people ignore many plain things in the Bible (evidently that is too boring for them) but they grasp at and are very dogmatic about obscure things (even though these things have to be constantly re-interpreted).

Yes, excellent question! While I believe in teaching prophesy from the Bible, I don't believe in Theo-fiction writing that draws men away from using the Scriptures to know the will of God for individuals and the applications that will help men draw nigh to Him.

Christianity just isn't sexy.

Amen!
But actually .. the secret to decoding what God has written is by having a relationship with the author. Otherwise, people are wasting their time trying to figure out God.
God will tell us what we need to know when we need to know it .. that is if we know Him!

Why don't they read the Bible and apply its lessons, rather than use it as a magic decoder ring?I agree! And on or before the 23rd of Sept? I believe that's Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year. So aren't these guys the equivalent of the tabloids that come out before the end of the calendar year, with their New Year's doomsday 'predictions'? Hmmmmm...
