"BTT. That last paragraph was pure dynamite. Mr. Wilson will now be relegated to the likes of The Village Voice and Vanity Fair and even less reputable rags such as the NY Times. As long as he resides in a comfortably liberal city where reality is very slow to sink in he'll do just fine."
Alger Hiss was Soviet spy and a traitor to this country. To people with a brain he was discredited by Whittaker Chambers in the Hiss-Chambers case in the lat 1940s.
To Liberals he remained a hero until his death, and only when KGB fiels confirmed he was a spy for Stalin, 50 years later, did the hard-core believers relent.
Dont underestimate the liberal capacity for self-delusion.
To the real hardcore cases that morphed him from a hero to a saint.
Dont underestimate the liberal capacity for self-delusion.
Will Chris Matthews implode when he comes back from "vacation". I say he went to the "nervous hospital".
Dont underestimate the liberal capacity for self-delusion.

That is an impossiblity. Each time they drive a new theme which is lower than the last, they catch us by surprise. Even when we know they will do "anything" they shock us anew.
They are guerrila fighters and we are the principled but rigid soldiers in formation trying to withstand their attacks. It is really really really difficult.
I spend a lot of time praying, like I did as a kid during the Cold War.

Apparently, not all hard core believers have relented. Somebody posted the following on Wikipediaforwhatitsworth about Alger Hiss:
"Alger Hiss (November 11, 1904 November 15, 1996) was an alleged Soviet Spy and U.S. State Department official involved in the establishment of the United Nations. In 1948, Whittaker Chambers, an admitted perjurer, accused Hiss of being a Communist and a spy for the Soviet Union. After two trials, Hiss was convicted of perjury in 1950. In 1975, after details of egregious government misconduct during the trial became public, Hiss was readmitted to the bar without the normal confession of guilt or expression of remorse usually required in such cases."
