You posted this. What exactly did Natalie Maines say that offended country music fans and where can I find it? I was offended by Natalie and Martie's statements but can't find where they were. I am in a heated discussion with several of my liberal leftist egg sucking touchy feely Democrat employees and they maintain that the Dixie Chicks are being ostracized because of their statement about G.W. B. only and they haven't done anything else wrong. Maybe there should be a location where all of Maine's wisdom is printed so some of the ones that complain that she's getting a raw deal will see ALL that she has said.

A week did not pass and the one sister was rattling off about "we are all in agreement"...

And here recently when they started running off again, the same sister outright dogged the only person in media, some gal in a magazine, who was on their side with some comment about "who listens to that bimbo.." or something to that effect. Well the writer came UNGLUED over it.

Sorry fer no sound facts, but I'm sure there are some here who know what I am speaking of and can offer a link or two to a thread here at FR...

I have searched numerous articles and not found the specific statements and only the responses. Is there a good summation anywhere? The libs are killing me because they have the numerous MSM articles making the DC's out to be victims.No joke, there is very little out there that reiterates what big mouth has said other than what the MSM has provided.

If the fans aren't leaving them in droves, then how come they're cancelling concerts throughout the south, midwest and Rockies? How come in Minnesota, they sold only one quarter of the tickets they did three years ago? How come in Philly, the stadium was more than half empty and Madison Square Garden was only 60% full? Three years ago, they sold out everywhere and had to add concerts in many cities. Heck, they sold most of their dates out on the first day of sale. And they're not even going to sell 2 million copies of their album, a fraction of what the last album sold?

I don't really know what happened to other people, but I think we were made the examples. I mean, Jennifer Aniston called Bush a ''f---ing idiot'' [in a 2001 interview] and nothing happened to her.

Every day a soldier dies, I am more proud that I spoke out. For the last three years, I am at a loss for words as to... what this country is. Who we are. I really think people have just gone insane. And they think we've gone insane. I think it's sad that you have to truly seek out the truth these days, because CNN and Fox News don't give it to you.

The Dixie Chicks' Natalie Maines apologized for disrespecting President Bush during a London concert in 2003. But now, she's taking it back. "I don't feel that way anymore," she said. "I don't feel he is owed any respect whatsoever."

For band member Martie Maguire, the controversy was a blessing in disguise.

"I'd rather have a small following of really cool people who get it, who will grow with us as we grow and are fans for life, than people that have us in their five-disc changer with Reba McEntire and Toby Keith," Maguire said. "We don't want those kinds of fans. They limit what you can do."

Do you remember that old Sesame Street song? The one that goes, “One of these things is not like the other one. One of these things just doesn’t belong.” It’s pretty easy here to pick Ms. Maines out from two centuries of Americans who believed that our country was and is something special. Now that it’s July 4th, her self-centered comments got me thinking about patriotism in the modern era.

As always, it’s useful to start by focusing on the word itself. The dictionary defines “patriotism” as “Love of and devotion to one’s country” (the American Heritage Dictionary) or “love of country and willingness to sacrifice for it” (WordNet). Although the first three quotations I’ve included are more emotive than the dictionaries’ dry language, they mean precisely the same thing: patriotism is an individual’s belief that his country is so special that saving it is worth sacrifice.

Natalie Maines, however, is the voice of the new American. First of all, she’s staggeringly self-centered. It’s all about Natalie: Do what you want, live where you want. As for anyone else’s wants and needs, well, the Hell with ‘em. This is all about me, me, me.

So, we can conclude that part of why patriotism has gone out the window for so many Americans—especially young ones—is because we live in an age where self-sacrifice, rather than being considered noble, is merely considered stupid. Why do something for your country, as Kennedy requested, when you can use the same time to get a latte and a massage?
