Charlie Crist Let My Daughter Die
by Robert Schindler, Sr. Posted Jul 31, 2006
As most Americans know, on March 31, 2005, my daughter, Terri Schindler Schiavo died of starvation and thirst after having her feeding tube removed by court order. The sad chain of events that concluded with Terris death ignited a media firestorm nationally and internationally. What few saw or heard was the callous inaction of aspiring governor Charlie Crist.
Florida Atty. Gen. Charlie Crist let my daughter die. He had it within his authority to save her life, but he turned a blind eye to her suffering. Even worse, he worked to ensure her death.
Terri lived in a neurologically compromised state for reasons that are still unknown, and my family wanted nothing more than permission to care for Terri for the span of her natural life. We were denied.
My daughter tenaciously fought for her life for more than 13 days after being deprived of the most basic, natural and constant need that we all sharethe need for nourishmentfood and water. Terri was not on a respirator, nor terminally ill. She was not dying, nor succumbing to a dreadful disease. She was disabled. She was dependent on others, but still very much a life, a woman, and a person.
Over the course of several years, our family, our lawyers, and our friends pleaded for help from local, county, and state police and regulatory agencies with constitutional and statutory authority to investigate the many sworn statements of extreme abuse and neglect suffered by our daughter.
Hoping to save my daughters life, our family sought the help of Attorney General Charlie Crist. Not only did Charlie Crist refuse our family lawful access to the assets of his office, but he violated his oath of office by actively cooperated with those in positions of political and judicial authority whom denied us legal access to the police and regulatory systems meant to protect the weak. Multiple sworn agents from responsible police and regulatory agencies who found probable cause to investigate allegations of abuse in Terri's judicial and physical care, were ordered to shut down those probes. This heavy-handedness made us powerless.
Information of direct interest to Attorney General Charlie Crist's office was directly delivered to his personal hands, and he refused to properly execute the duties of his office. And it was with deliberate decision that he failed to attend a scheduled Tallahassee meeting with our family. On another occasion, we approached each other by chance. Upon recognizing me, Charlie Crist abruptly stopped and walked away.
That callous action encapsulates Charlie Crist. He walked away from a man whose daughters fate he controlled. At that moment, he turned his back on Terri. And he turned his back on the most fundamental duties of his office.
It is quite clear that Charlie Crist, to this day, has demonstrated no public affection for the cause of life, or Christianity, or any set of core values. He has been posturing to become governor for decades. With each voting audience he has crafted a message based on the expediency of the moment.
To add insult to injury, at a recent banquet, our alleged pro-life candidate for the Governor of Florida said the following about Judge George Greer and other judges involved in the death of my daughter, "You are heroes to all of us, and your defense of the judiciary and what is right is beyond admirable."
Through his actions, Charlie Crist has demonstrated that he has no regard for our most vulnerable citizens, the high duties of public office, or life itself. Charlie Crists celebration of the merciless judges who condemned Terri to death speaks to his true character.

Today, it's still easy to decide between Charlie Crist and Tom Gallagher. This time, though, the sensible candidate is Charlie Crist.
In seeking the Republican nomination for governor, Mr. Gallagher - now the state's chief financial officer - has run so far to the right on social issues that he's put dents in the guardrail. Mr. Gallagher supports the decision by Gov. Bush and the Legislature to intervene in the Terri Schiavo case. Mr. Crist, the state's attorney general, does not. Mr. Gallagher refuses to consider changing the state's ban on gays adopting some of the state's hardest-to-place foster children. Mr. Crist says he would consider a change. Mr. Gallagher wants to overturn Roe vs. Wade. Mr. Crist doesn't. Mr. Gallagher congratulated President Bush after he vetoed legislation to widen embryonic stem-cell research. Mr. Crist favors using state money on such research.

"Don't kid yourself," Sen. Smith says. "There will be a Republican Legislature after this election. A Democratic governor has to be able to work with the other party." Sen. Smith has done that, on big issues. He got together enough bipartisan votes this year to prevent passage of constitutional amendments to abolish class-size rules and overturn the Florida Supreme Court ruling that Gov. Bush's voucher program is unconstitutional. In 2005, he helped stop the Senate from intervening a second time in the Terri Schiavo case. "Given the part of the state where I'm from," he said, "the Schiavo vote was not an easy vote."

Lee said recently he had no intention that spring evening of helping Smith in his primary run against Tampa Congressman Jim Davis. "I called it like I saw it," he said.
Smith's emergence as the key Democrat on so many of the contentious votes these past two years there were also the efforts to keep Terri Schiavo on life support and add limits to government spending to the constitution is no surprise to Lee's predecessor, Jacksonville Republican Jim King. "When he picked up a microphone to speak, it was always clear that people were going to listen to him."

TALLAHASSEE -- Republican Tom Gallagher is betting his political life on an appeal to Christian and social conservatives. And at least one of his supporters in those groups say their own future is at stake in Gallagher's quest to be governor.
Gallagher has earned the endorsement of Florida Right to Life, as well as vocal support of most social conservative leaders in the state. His goal: Win the hearts of Republicans most likely to get out and vote on Sept. 5.

Seminars would typically pay expenses but not necessarily honoraria. No way to tell.
I just checked out an article by ghoulmaster Arthur Caplan. He was bummed that President Bush vetoed embryonic stem cell research, which leaves all those embryos alive when we ought to be killing them. Outrageous!
Anyway, his title for the piece was: BUSH TO STEM CELL COMMUNITY: DROP DEAD.
Naturally, coming from Arthur, I wondered if "drop dead" was a compliment?
Charlie, is that you?
Crist is Greek, hence the dark skin.
I sent Dylan's story from the Denver Post to
Mary and told her to read the despicable
counterpoint to her precious, priceless story
and weep.
I don't think politicians even know how to answer the question so they say junk about the rule of law. There is no rule of law in Florida by current standards.
INFO: If a govt breaks the law, it is tyranny. If citizens break the law, it is anarchy.
When there's a clear cut case of judicial tyranny and those judges are hailed as heroes by a weak, malleable candidate like CRIST, the state is correctly labeled DEATH CENTRAL.
I had not planned on Terri becoming a focal point of the governor's face but when I see posts about Terri's bloody shirt, she is a focal point.
Who is being forced out today and who will die tomorrow against their will?
Don't ask Charlie Crist. He's with the euthanasists all the way.
Please visit the Conservatives Worry thread and corroborate my post that LE follows people here and taps their phone. The cristi-critters are clueless on the matter. Guess they've never been followed or had their phone tapped. AND THEN, THERE'S THE MATTER OF NURSE CARLA'S NURSING LICENSE. Paybacks for Terri supporters are hell.
Crist's people have been hoodwinked and not told a thing about what happened to Terri... He's had to lie to his own supporters because he did Let Terri Die and he's fooling his own supporters with smoke and mirrors. Crist will help nobody but himself. That is how much he values life. ZERO.

BILL CLINTON ENDORSES HOSPICE HALL OF FAMER, MONEY LAUNDERER JIM KING, JAX!
BTTT
True. Probably the same holds true for the influx of money into Terri's trust fund from the ACLU after Greer sealed the records. That's just a presumpstion on my part, I just recall those two events happened fairly close together.

Terri on the road to recovery before the second stage began.
I hadn't heard of this. Can you give me more information? If need be, Freepmail.
I did get a whiff or two of sulphur over there :-) But then, it's merely a political debate. Politics is bad enough here (New York) without worrying about how Floridians are going to bring their house down on their heads.
Lord Acton sets my compass. Power corrupts. Short of repealing Original Sin, there is no way around that. Politics is innately and always a dirty game. I never expect anything good to come of it and am never disappointed.
Politics is one of those topics where the closer you look, the worse it gets.
But with this cycle, the Terri watershed persists, which side of the now very clear Terri issue the candidates take, and especially true in Florida where Terri emerges as key with most all political races.
The battle Craig Conner was fighting for his mother's life ended last week when the family agreed to have a court order reversed and end her life-sustaining treatment.
But as Conner puts that ordeal behind him, he says he is ready to take on another fight, this time against the state's futile-care law that in certain cases allows doctors and hospitals - instead of families and patients - to decide whether to discontinue someone's life support.
Futile-care law puts life of patient in others' hands

Interesting that the volunteers who tried to give water to Terri were arrested for the second degree misdemeanor of trespassing.
However, Michael Schiavo openly cohabitated, and admitted it on the front page of the St. Pete Times during Terri's death throes.
Calls to the police, sheriff, and others resulted in being treated like a crack pot.
Cohabitation while married to another is a second degree misdemeanor.
