Besides, it will probably be the only enjoyment you will have this year. Your first game is the NFL season opener on the new "Thursday Night Football". Your fish are going up against the Pittsburgh Steelers at Heinz Field in prime time. May God have mercy on your soul.
Ditto. The president should be given respect but his offers are not undeclinable.
I don't think so. Saban is from West Virgina.
Gasp! Wheeze! Tachacardia!
I ate at Shula's Steak House in Indianapolis and had one of the absolute BEST steaks I ever had (the only one that could possibly beat it was at a steak house in Omaha...forgot its name). And, Saban should have taken the president's invite. Not nice or classy at all.

Lou Saban
Lou Saban (born October 13, 1921), a legendary coach in the American Football League, played college football at the Indiana University where he was named All-Big Ten as a quarterback one year and All-Big Ten as a fullback in another. He began his pro career with the Cleveland Browns of the All America Football Conference (AAFC). He was the team captain as the Browns dominated the AAFC in all four years of the league's existence. Saban was twice voted to the league's All-Star team as a linebacker. He went on to be head coach at Case Institute, and assistant coach at Northwestern University. In 1955, Saban was named as the head coach at Northwestern. Two years later, he moved on to Western Illinois University, where he would remain as head coach until he entered the professional football ranks to guide the Boston Patriots of the newly formed American Football League (AFL). In his last season at Western Illinois, his team had a perfect 9-0 record.
In the early 1960s the Buffalo Bills enjoyed an era of glory. The driving force behind it was Lou Saban, whose style of coaching won him the respect, love, and loyalty of his players. "Trader Lou" came to the Buffalo Bills as head coach in 1962, from the Patriots. He set to work building the Bills into a formidable defensive team, with a strong offense as well. His record at Buffalo during the AFL years was 36-17-3, with winning seasons in each of his four years.
In 1964 and 1965, the Bills went 12-2 and 10-3-1, en route to consecutive AFL championships. He was named Coach of the Year twice, but one week after winning his second title, he quit to become head coach at the University of Maryland, and then the Denver Broncos. He also served as head coach at the University of Miami from 1977 to 1978.
His son, Nick Saban, is currently the head coach of the Miami Dolphins.
To decline an invitation from the President of the United States is so verboten that I swoon at the thought.
One does not decline an invitation from the President of the United States unless one is in second state of labor or on the operating room table having an aneurysm repaired.
Well, Rob, Cajungirl is even more of a hard-liner than I am! (I knew you'd come through for me - thanks, sista!)
It's not like he had to fly to Washington.
Heck, I wouldn't pass up an opportunity to eat stone crabs.
Esp. if the other guy was buying. :)
I'd go to Joe's with Hillary if she was buying. (I'll have to think about that one)
The two things I miss about moving from S. Fla.

OK Question. You have a choice. LSU is in the National Championship and you have tickets for the game. However on the same night you get an invitation to the White House to eat Dinner. What do you do?
I think the answer is Clear of course
AH thanks. I sear I thought his Dad owned a gass station or something
Lou Saban is Nick's cousin, not his father.
The WHite House.
I wouldn't go to an LSU football game if you paid me, unless of course it was in the ten thou dollar range. I hate football.
Now, a Willie Nelson or Rolling Stone or Tom Waite concert might tempt me.
But no, I would go to the WH no matter who the PRes was.
Really? Apparently Answers.com Wikipedia has it wrong then ... what I sent was copied verbatim from that source.
What a non-story. Anything to get a dig in to the President.
Blasphemer lol
True, the local stories were better written too.
Have you ever played football?
