WASHINGTON - President Bush stepped into the Justice Department's constitutional confrontation with Congress on Thursday and ordered that documents seized in an FBI raid on a congressman's office be sealed for 45 days.
The president directed that no one involved in the investigation have access to the documents under seal and that they remain in the custody of the solicitor general.

The fix is in.
Congress is free to engage in gambling, boozing, and whoring...at least for another 45 days.

They all are damn crooks!
Now I am really ticked.
There's NOTHING unconstitutional about an FBI raid with the proper warrant.
I do wonder about the President stepping into this. It looks bad.
That's the DEAL!!
Republican would screw up a free lunch. I don't even know my party anymore.
Once again, the spineless Republican genetic defect shows...........
Gives everyone 45 days to clean out their offices or office freezers
45 days puts us at July 9 (I think). Isn't that when the Justice dept. said charges would be filed?
Laurie Kellman is a busy gal today.
She had just put this out a bit earlier when the President sealed the documants as well in the latest chess-like move towards affirming justice is done on Capitol Hill.
Hastert lashes out at Justice Dept.

It's only Thursday too.
WTF.
One redeeming quote from Bush:
"Let me be clear: Investigating and prosecuting crime is a crucial executive responsibility that I take seriously," he said. "Those who violate the law including a member of Congress should and will be held to account. This investigation will go forward and justice will be served."
"...that no one involved in the investigation have access to the documents ...."
Huh??? How, in any way, does that help the ongoing investigation?
And politicians wonder why the public holds them in such low regard!!
Bush was concerned that the Congress poll numbers were going to go well below his into the single digits, so he decided to beat them to the bottom. The first one to zero wins. And we all lose.
How many times does he have to put his hand on the stove before he figures out that he is going to get burnt? The only upside is that it keeps William Jefferson, Democrat Congressman Lousiana, in the headlines for a few more weeks.
Are they goin' in lock box?! Where's Al when you need him.
