Simple Proposal:

President Bush publicly asks Monday for 1,000 volunteers from each state National Guard.

Federalize the 50,000 troops, and put them on the border before next weekend.

GOP wins in November, in a landslide.

Do you think he will actually do it? It would be great if he did,but ya gotta watch what you do to those illegals.....ya gotta fight for those votes! Everybody in the senate and congress is too concerned about THEIR (meaning illegals) needs but what about OURS? That's why I don't think anything will be done about this problem.

It will never happen. An action like this will inhibit the implementation of uniting all of the Americas, a'la the EU.

(Sounds of dry heaving in the background)

GOP wins in November, in a landslide.

Bush sends the National Guard home in December.

Are people so stupid that they will fall for this ruse?

THE Mantra that you will hear tomorrow about the putting the National Guards on the Border is that THE NATIONAL GUARD IS SPREAD TOO THIN!

You can't federalize the National Guard troops otherwise they will be unable to perform law enforcement functions under the Posse Comitatus Act. They would only be legally allowed to support the border Patrol unless Congress passes an amendment to change posse comitatus. However, if you leave the NG under state control it would be perfectly legal to use the NG for law enforcment purposes. Though I suppose you could argue that stopping an invasion is not the type of law enforcement that Posse Comitatus prohibits or perhaps one could argue that Article IV's injunction to defend the states from invasion would supercede any law anyway..
