Pelosi Statement on Resignation of Congressman Tom DeLay

Washington, D.C.-- House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi released the following statement today on the resignation of Congressman Tom DeLay:

“Mr. DeLay’s departure from Congress is one piece of the changes needed to end the Republican culture of corruption. This Republican corruption continues to cost the American people at the pharmacy, at the gas pump, and in their home energy bills.

“For more than a decade, every Republican in the House enabled and benefited from their culture of corruption and they must be held accountable.

“We need a new direction that returns the people’s house to the American people. Democrats again insist the Ethics Committee do its job and investigate corruption in the House.”

the Economist Magazine did a good piece a while ago comparing Pelosi to Hastert.

One thing they made clear was that Hastert represented a "middle America" district and Pelosi's district was made up mainly of homosexuals and the homeless.

Let's hear about William Jefferson, the crook who had rescuers bring him back to his home in NOLA so he could grab up a bunch of damaging evidence before someone else did.
Whatever was in Jefferson's house must have been so damning that even a looter laying eyes on it would have recognized it as hot stuff.

Pelosi forgot to mention that every time a member of congress strikes a cop then the taxpayers must pay for the investigation, the arrest and then the prosecution. On top of that, we have to pay for the defense also, go figure?
