Iran Successfully Fires Multiple-warhead Missile

TEHRAN, Iran (AP) - Iran successfully test-fired a missile that can avoid radar and hit several targets simultaneously using multiple warheads, the military said Friday.

Gen. Hossein Salami, the air force chief of the elite Revolutionary Guards, did not specify the missile's range, saying it depends on the weight of its warheads. But state-run television described the weapon as "ballistic," suggesting it's of comparable range to Iran's existing ballistic rocket, which can travel 2,000 kilometres and reach arch-foe Israel and U.S. bases in the Middle East.

"Today, a remarkable goal of the Islamic Republic of Iran's defence forces was realized with the successful test-firing of a new missile with greater technical and tactical capabilities than those previously produced," Salami said on state-run television.

It showed a clip of the launch of what it called the Fajr-3, with "fajr" meaning "victory" in Farsi.

"It can avoid anti-missile missiles and strike the target," Salami said. He said the missile would carry a multiple warhead, and each warhead would be capable of hitting its target precisely.

"This news causes much concern, and that concern is shared by many countries in the international community, about Iran's aggressive nuclear weapons program and her parallel efforts to develop delivery systems, both in the field of ballistic missiles and cruise missiles," said Israeli Foreign Ministry spokesman Mark Regev.

The Security Council and IAEA better get their sh&# together real soon. There's only a few months left, if that. If they don't, SOMEBODY'S gonna have to act unilaterally (or bilaterally, if you know what I mean ;-)

So, anyone care to figure out why the bombing hasn't started five minutes ago?

They have spent billions on getting Russian help to develop their ICBM program.

Sounds like to me they are saber rattling. If it was really as good as they said they wouldn't be shooting off their mouth.
They just want the idiots in Washington to pay them like North Korea wanted.

It's too late for anyone to stop this insanity, imo.

Diplomacy is for weinies, the Islamic juggernaut recognizes nothing but the heel and boot approach.

And many people wonder why China and Russia do not want to put sanctions on them. It is deja vu Saddam all over again in that regard.

Maybe it has, but it has been so extensive that it has disrupted news reports from the region.

Deja vu Iraq. The U.N. is totally irrelevant and impotent without the U.S. and its allies. Russia and China will do nothing as usual since the third world is a big part of their weapons economies. So who is left...yes, you guessed it...

Don't worry, my friend, strong condemnation from the Eurotwits and the UN is forthcoming! THAT will save the day.
The solution is so obvious, the danger so real, I wonder if these idiots actually want Iran to get its hands on a Nuke. They would shed crocodile tears a plenty if Iran managed to Nuke Israel.

Not only that, but developing MITWs are expressly forbidden by the non-proliferation treaty. I hope the U.S. hasn't decommissioned too many of ours...

and the good news is that we have a leader who had the cajones to neighborup with Iran. Imagine what this threat would have meant prior to our invasion of Iraq.

No big deal. Yawnnnn. Zzzzzz. Technology from Russia and China shipped to Iran via North Korean ships. But those dolts in D.C. just say, "China is our trading partner. True, they use slave labor and spread WMD all around the world. While Beijing does dump tons of copycat electronic goods, furniture, clothes, and whatever, they make pretty good copies. True, they use tariffs to restrict U.S. goods and violate numerous trade agreements. But they are good trading partners for the U.S. The sheeple love to buy cheap Chinese goods. Go out and buy more Wally World stock . . ."

I encourage everyone to read 'Countdown to Terror' by former Congressman Curt Weldon. Truly chilling stuff.

The MIRV setup will probably just about halve the range, but the Shahab-6 will reach Europe when they get it finalized. Europeans convinced that this is just another Pakistan-style project that is restricted to local area only are in for a rude awakening.
