The U.S. Chamber of Commerce has released a second television ad on behalf of Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger that is scheduled to run on cable and broadcast outlets statewide. This 30-second spot explicitly champions the performance of the governor since he gained office in the 2003 recall election. Below is the text of the ad and an analysis by Andy Furillo of The Bee Capitol Bureau.
NARRATOR: Remember? California was $22 billion in the red, the car tax tripled, jobs and businesses were leaving, a state literally in the dark. Arnold Schwarzenegger delivered. Repealing the car tax hike, cutting the deficit, refusing to raise taxes, helping create 400,000 new jobs, and expanding trade. There's hard work ahead. But with his heart in the right place, Schwarzenegger is helping California compete.

The Chamber of Commerce, championing business, is making ads for Arnold, while the Publie Employees Unions, like the Teachers association, and the Sierra Club endorse Angelides.

24-MAR-06SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- The U.S. Chamber of Commerce has released a second television ad on behalf of Gov. ANALYSIS:
One of the most dire statistics of the administration of former Gov. Gray Davis _ the state's $22 billion debt _ originated with Davis himself, and newspaper stories quoting him in late 2002 and early 2003 were cited by the Chamber in reporting the red-ink figure. Davis' comments, however, substantially overstated the state's actual debt, according to Brad Williams of the Legislative Analyst's Office.
Williams said the actual debt figure was more in the area of $15 billion. Any reductions in the state's debt since then, he said, have resulted from the billions of dollars in borrowing brought on by Proposition 57 in 2004 and other budgetary maneuvers. According to Williams, the state's current level of borrowing amounts to $25 billion.

That doesn't change the FACT that the Chamber of Commerce is supporting Arnold and making ads to help him get elected. THAT is the story.
I'd love to see a 'truth in advertising' law for politicians and initiatives.
The lies and misrepresentation are getting worse every day.
Too little and too late! Arnold was beaten last November. In that election the conservative base abandoned the Gov! They will not come back.

It is FACT that Jesse Jackson is also supporting Arnold. Now THAT is a story!
Politics makes for strange bedfellows, yaknow. ;-)
More red ink. Thanks Arnie!
Any reductions in the state's debt since then, he said,
have resulted from the billions of dollars in borrowing
brought on by Proposition 57 in 2004
That says it all.
Having attended Chamber meetings, this doesn't make me rest easy.
"It is FACT that Jesse Jackson is also supporting Arnold. Now THAT is a story!"

PROOF?????
I don't believe it. There is no way that Jesse Jackson supports Arnold over the socialist Dems.
It was published in today's Sacramento Bee, and in the State Campaign Finance website filings (Cal-Access.ss.ca.gov):
Both show the following to Schwarzenegger:
$22,300 Jesse Jackson President, Jackson EnterprisesBUT... as I have since posted here, I think both are in error.
