UN war crimes tribunal denies request for Milosevic autopsy in Moscow

BRUSSELS, March 11 (Xinhuanet) -- The U.N. war crimes tribunal said on Saturday it had denied a request by Slobodan Milosevic's lawyer to have the autopsy of the former Yugoslavia president conducted in Moscow instead of The Hague.

A tribunal official also declined to comment on a claim by Milosevic's lawyer that he had been poisoned while in jail.

The International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) in The Hague on Saturday announced that Milosevic had been found dead on his bed in his cell at the UN detention unit in Scheveningen.

Milosevic, 64, has suffered from high blood pressure and heart problems.

On Feb. 24, the tribunal refused Milosevic's request to be temporarily released to Moscow in order to undergo medical treatment.

In a trial that started on Feb. 12, 2002, Milosevic faced 66 charges of war crimes, including genocide for his role in the Balkan wars following the breakup of the Yugoslav federation in the 1990s. Enditem

"By denying Milosevic, a known heart-failure patient needed care, ICTY has committed extrajudical execution."

What else could they do? They weren't having any luck trying to convict him.

>>>>>Human Rights Watch group I'll have to find some opinions on the quality of their reporting - how far can I trust this organization?<<<<

Try this one for size. Morton Abramowitz was a board member of Human Rights Watch AND diplomatic adviser to KLA terrorist group in Rambouillet 'peace" talks. It can be mildly described as Conflict of interest, or harshly calling HRW a shill for terrorist organisation connected to Al Qaeda .

Madeleine Albright, Richard Holbrooke and Leon Feurth invented the theory of HUmanitarian intervention. Abramowitz worked with terrorists to create humanitarian crisis, Albright workded as a head of State Department provided diplomatic and military support.

Consulting HRW documents for alleged attrocities is comparable to consulting Mein Kampf to assess Jewish guilt for start of WWII. They are propaganda aparatus linked to terrorists, not human rights organisation.

The important thing was not to convict Milosevic but to make him an example and to ensure the precedent for a permanent international criminal court.

His trial was to be the trail of the century and the first day or so was even carried in America on the cable channel 'Court TV'.

Then Slobo opened up with a brilliant opening monologue and then we heard no more about his trial.

If not for the dedicated Freepers hunting for buried news on Milosevic's trial few if any would have been kept abreast of any developments - and most were developments in Slobo's favor.

He died on the eve of his request to subpoena Blair, Clinton and Clark. The dots are not that hard to connect.

Milosevic died a natural death. Were the two Croatina Serbs who hanged themselves in their cells "murdered" too? Milosevic should be cremated and his remains dumped in the North Sea, and many Serbs would agree with that. The ones who had to suffer him that is, not loudmouthed second and third generation Americans who happen to have Serbian surnames.

I am not a Serb and I care that a man died in a UN prison.

Is your freeper handle an ode to the porn star of the same name or are you him?

It's kind of tribute to the 80s, the hair, the mustaches, etc.

And Milosevic is responsible for the deaths of a lot of drafted Serbian boys who didn't want to be there too; they were the ones they'd send into the minefields first. The many Serb apologists on here never bother mentioning that stuff.

That is a stupid point, no offense. What was Slobo to do? Let the Albanians have Kosovo? It is like slamming Lincoln for a draft against the South.

I swear to God, some of the Serbian defenders sound like apologists for Saddam Hussein ("Where are the bodies?" etc).

You bin Clinton defenders kind of sound to me like al qaeda apologists.

What precisely would you have had Milosevic ( or any Serb leader ) do in response to jihadists trained and armed by Osama bin Laden, in Albanian terrorist camps, flooding into Serb communities and chopping heads off? Protest march?

So the U.N. is going to have their own autopsy, are they? Of course we can all trust them to do a thorough investigation into the matter.

And then, when it appears Clinton may be required to testify, the defendant conveniently dies alone in his cell after being denied medical treatment.

I remember another guy: JAMES McDOUGAL!!!
Hmmm???

Why is it that everybody who didn't like Milosevic has to be accused of being a Clintoon defender? Clintoon was a buffoon. Milosevic was still a thug whose only goal was to rid the former Yugoslavia of all non-Serbs. The only winners in that mess were the people, who'd finally had enugh of Slobby's incompetence and decided to kick him out.

You defend him on this issue, no? Perhaps this is the only issue where you are in complete lockstep with Clinton, the NYT, Amanpour, Soros, etc...I don't know.

You seem kind of sensitive for someone who equates Milosevic defenders with Saddam apologists.

Thanks for that. This here is a kind of update, of sorts, on that article, posted today:

In covering Iraq, mainstream media give terrorists a boost (A MUST READ).

Typical. I think about it often. We are under the mistaken impression that the act of information disemination has attached to it a covenant of some kind to include TRUTH AND INFORMATION ... when in fact, nothing of the kind exists. The broadcast media are not bound by ANYTHING other than the need to be financially successful and that they do, by being entertaining...and provocative.

The more people we enlighten to this sorry fact, the less disappointed they will be. After reading that article and the thread, don't you feel much less inclined to think you are disappointed in the medium?

The Court Jester after all, does not rule the kingdom, not unless the King himself has lost his senses and handed over the sceptre. (We did hand it over, but we must learn how to take it back!)
