"ask the Imam"
Every intro to Islam that I've ever seen makes a big talking point that Islam, unlike Christianity (or, at least, Catholic and Orthodox Christianity) has no priesthood or clergy, and there are no intermediaries between the believer and Allah. if so, then why is the Muslim world overrun by Imams, ayatollahs, sheiks, and other assorted pooh-bas? I'd like to "ask the Imam" THAT!
