Thanks for the thread, Johnnie. I think we should use this thread, and others, to put research facts about the port deal. Then we should e-mail those facts to our legislators and talk radio hosts.

The fact that the Port Operation company has NO security functions is either willfully or inadvertently left OUT of the story.

I don't understand. You are saying they have no security ability at the ports? So what. Please explain why having the UAE in our American ports is not a threat to us.

Thats the problem with being Republican, we have so many polititions that are Republican in name only. This whole thing was started by people that have no idea how a port works. Most likely like most corporate changes this will involve only higher management types at the port itself.

I agree: the big media circus around the Dubai purchase of the British port management company is a lot of hot air. Chuck Schumer, whose party thinks the War on Terror is a distraction, is all of a sudden concerned about port security?? Are laws changed that will not allow inspections? Does this port operations company have a bad track record? Will hiring practices and contracts suddenly change? Was this deal in the works for months--or did the treasury department just suddenly approve it with no kind of oversight? Where was Chuck Schumer when other foreign nations were opting for port management contracts??

The hypocrisy is thick, and not just with Schumer. The Republican "leaders" are using this as a political football, too. If Lindsey Graham is so p-o'd about the deal, I want to know why he's waited so long to talk about legislation banning Middle Eastern nations from doing business here in the USA.

The bottom line is that some stocks and paperwork will change hands--and the operation of the ports will remain much the same. But to hear Schumer & Company rant, you would think we had turned over the management of the ports to Osama bin Laden himself.

I didn't know that they were being managed by the British either. We need lots more input on this story. I do hope Rush has some facts regarding this. Frankly, I don't believe Hillary and her cronies but I'm also leary of this deal going under the radar. Shine some light Rush.

Easy for you to say all this from Minnesotta. The contract was held by the a British company which was recently sold to a Dubai company. I don't care WHAT they are responsible for, who they hire, etc. I don't want an Arab nation responsible for the Ports which SURROUND me. I saw the WTC on 9/11. Call me a racist if you like, and El Rushbo can do the same from Floriduh, but first tell me how you classify the Islamofacists who will miss no opportunity to kill us all. And if you can't see the unity of the Muslim world in their hatred of the west, if the recent cartoon jihad hasn't convinced you that the vast majority of Muslims are either not moderates, or too frightened to rely on, if you cannot see that it is the ELITES in the Umma (or whatever they call it) who provide the ability for the "radicals" to continue to murder then you are just willfully blind.
