I'd like to see Kerry do a 'real' filibuster. See how long he can stand there, reading, reciting, speaking, before boring himself to sleep.
I'd bet he wouldn't last 2 hours.
If the libDems try to filibuster, Frist to call their bluff and force them to do a real one, not one of these new faux filibusters where they only have to show up a couple of hours a couple of times each week.
John Kerry "I actually did vote for Sam Alito, right before I voted against him."
IIRC that would require a rules change. The rules for a fillibuster were changed quite a few years ago. It now takes 3/5 of the senators SWORN to invoke cloture. In the past (Mr. Smith Goes to Washington) it was 3/5 of the senators PRESENT
(I prefer the old way - make them work for their dissent...)
Kerry would probably just bring in servants and flunkies to filibuster for him. Privilege of the wealthy, you know.
What's different from Kerry regular speechifying. Boring is boring.

I'm afraid of just the opposite. John F'n Kerry is the only person in the world mesmerized by his "brilliance." It might be like a perpetual motion machine. The more he heards himself talk the more excited he gets. Of course, everyone else within hearing distance would be bored to sleep in short order.
