The unseen terrorism

I wonder how much terrorism is really happening inside the United States.
I mean, if terrorism was actually reported, actually chronicled, actually recognized, would we be shocked by just how much is occurring right here in our own back yard?
This thought came to mind last week when I read the very first comprehensive story of an incident that occurred Dec. 18 in Chandler, Ariz.
You probably heard something about it.
Here's the way the story was initially reported by the Associated Press, the largest news-gathering organization in the world:
Authorities say a former home improvement store employee drove his car through the entrance of a Home Depot and lit the car on fire in the paint department.
Though the car almost struck an employee, no one was injured. Firefighters were able to contain the fire within 20 minutes, officials said.
The driver was identified as 24-year-old Ali Warrayat of Gilbert. He was arrested on suspicion of aggravated assault and arson of an occupied structure.
The story went on to explain that police weren't sure what Warrayat's motivations were.
A day later, the mystery continued. The Arizona Republic followed up on the attack by reporting: "Police were still searching Monday for the motive of a man who allegedly drove his car through the front doors of a Home Depot early Sunday."
It was not until late last week that a local newspaper, the East Valley Tribune, finally reported details that gave the public some insight into Warrayat's motivations.
Here's what we learned from that report:
Now, on the basis of what you know about Warrayat, are his motivations all that much of a mystery to you?
Should this incident not be regarded as domestic terrorism?
What would it the suspect have to do or say to be regarded as an ally of al-Qaida and the Islamo-fascists who have declared war on America?
Once again, we see law enforcement officials and the press establishment going out of their way to downplay even the possibility of terrorism. How many times have we seen it? How many times do we have to see it before we recognize the trend?
I could recite, off the top of my head, at least a dozen other examples of the way government officials and their accessories in the media have turned a blind eye to the obvious so as not to see the truth.
In fact, think of all the incidents – from power outages to explosions at refinery plants to thefts of munitions – in which authorities quickly dismissed any connection to terrorism, even before they had a clue as to the real cause or motive.
Could it be we have far more enemies within than any of us ever figured?

Uh, yeah. But I am comfortably ensconced in the delusion and distraction of middle class American suburbia where I don't have to worry about this sort of thing. Islam is a "religion of peace." The ruling elite, the disciples and adherents of multi-culturalism and tolerance on the teevee and MSM tell me so.
There's terrorism and there's terrorism. I can't believe the same guys that pulled off 9/11 told some guy to ram his car into a hardware store in Bofunk, New Jersey.
Yeah, next thing you know people will be claiming that kids blowing themselves up in Gaza are terrorists, too.

The OU bomber wasn't exactly 'arrested', more like 'scraped up' - although I could suppose you could say the attack was arrested - and they fail to mention the missile fired at that jet over LA.
And burning or blowing up a church can't possible be terrorism. Ditto bombing a wedding. Gee, I guess the beheading of only one innocent at a time can't be terrorism either.
Why does it have to be on an epic scale in order to be called terrorism?
On a similar yet somewhat divergent topic, what goes on in the inner cities of this country is worse than terrorism, and is officially "unseen" for the terror it is. It goes unchecked, with a wink and a nod, unpunished, because of political correctness and Jesse and Al. The property values destroyed, lives snuffed out, civilians terrorized, and neighborhoods turned in to war zones.... every bit as insidious as 9/11.

I didn't say not to call him a terrorist. I said there's terrorism and there's terrorism. I think there's also terrorists and there's nut cases and I guess the only thing that qualifies this guy as a terrorist is his religion.
And any attempts to use good policing or might to stamp it out are viewed as RACISM. See a common thread here?
No one ever said he was connected to Al Qaeda nor that it was an organized attack. But what he did, based on his beliefs is a terrorist attack, the same as people in ELF are when they bomb and burn for their beliefs. So, yes, it was a terrorist act and he is a terrorist. There was a time when a bomb threat called into a school was charged as a terroristic threat, now they just send the kid to counseling to understand why he did it.
Call it what you want. I'm sure that to this guy it was terrorism. So..what exactly? If a lone guy decides to commit an act of terrorism, what's it mean?
It's kind of a pointless article then. There are all sorts of things such as he described happening every day.
Stand outside the gates of any US penitentiary and watch the "converts" as they are released into our midst....
