In 2000, McCain won seven GOP presidential primaries in the U.S., but retired from the race after eventual nominee George W. Bush became the frontrunner.

Exactly! It kills me that the MSM writes this, but does not seem to see what it means, and will continue to mean. McCain may be the MSM's wet dream of a "Republican," but he is not conservative enough to appeal to the hardcore GOP. He can't carry the party. And yet the MSM is pushing him by putting out this poll and getting his name out there early.

Hm ... but perhaps I underestimate them. Perhaps they do realize he can't win against Hillary, so that's why they're pushing him? Diabolical, if so.

On a side note, the non-conservative Republican I like best is Giuliani. Dear Rudy can't carry the GOP either -- but we should be seriously drafting him for the VICE-Presidential spot. He just might carry NY, and he would pull in a lot of moderates and can't-deciders. He has a tremendous amount of charisma, and he has already shown he is a man who can deal with an immense crisis. If, God forbid, something should happen to his President, Rudy is one of the few men I feel sure would be able to carry on with confidence.

Rudy for VP in 2008!!!

I might be closer, but Mrs. Clinton would still win NY if Rudy was the VP candidate.
