McCain Keeps Advantage Over Hillary for 2008
Angus Reid Global Scan/Zogby ^ | January 1, 2006

Posted on 01/01/2006 10:22:42 PM PST by presidio9

Arizona senator John McCain could win the 2008 presidential election in the United States, according to a poll by Zogby International. 52 per cent of respondents would vote for the Republican in a head-to-head contest against Democratic New York senator Hillary Rodham Clinton.

In 2000, McCain won seven GOP presidential primaries in the U.S., but retired from the race after eventual nominee George W. Bush became the frontrunner.

Rodham Clinton was elected to the U.S. Senate in 2000, defeating Republican Rick Lazio by 12 per cent. She ruled out a presidential bid in 2004. 37 per cent of respondents would vote for the Democrat, while 11 per cent would back other candidates or remain undecided.

Bush is ineligible for a third term in office. The next presidential election is scheduled for November 2008.

Not pissy. I would feel like a hypocrite criticizing the NYT if I couldn't find any other source than Newsmax to back me up. Newsmax is not credible.

It is precisely these sort of polls which make McCain appear to be a desireable candidate.

Would you vote for the devil herself, or would you rather take what's behind door number two?

What horsecrap. I seriously hope the Republican Party isn't being swayed by this garbage and finds a better candidate than McCain.

John McCain attracts legion of admirers to book-signing

snip

McCain ducked questions about his plans for 2008. But "Character" could have been dubbed "Profiles in Courage" if that title hadn't adorned a 1955 book by another ambitious U.S. senator: John F. Kennedy.

E.J. Dionne, a Washington Post columnist, recently analyzed how these chapters would play in a future McCain campaign. Turns out, there's something for every voter.

Of course the NYT is not. Did you read what I wrote? Or is "pissy" the first word on your 2006 vocabulary calander?

McInsane would have to get the GOP nomination first.

Thats not going to happen with Giuliani in the race.

The next POTUS will be Giuliani.

I would vote for the pro-life, pro-family McCain over the pro-abortion, pro-gay Giuliani in a primary. No question.

No. "Calander" is. You are the one who equated Newsmax to "Weekly World News."

I just checked the internet. It's chock full of conservative news sources that are more reliable than Newsmax. If you're too lazy to find one, you probably don't have anything enlightening enough to say anyway.

The device has yet to be invented that can measure my indifference to that remark.

But then you enjoy reading Newsmax, so I'll just bet that you're indifferent to lots of stimuli.
