Names Posted of Opponents to Mass. Gay Marriage

(Brockton, MA) — Supporters of gay marriage in Massachusetts have posted all 123,356 names and addresses of those who signed a petition to reverse legalized same-sex marriage throughout the state on a well known gay rights Web site. Employees and volunteers posted the names on Knowthyneighbor.org. The database is searchable by first name, last name, home town, and ZIP code and offers visitors a 'fraud affidavit" to use 'if your name is listed and you believe you were a victim of petition fraud."

Supporters of a constitutional ban on same-sex marriage in Massachusetts shattered a 20-year-old record for the most certified signatures ever gathered in support of a proposed ballot question.

The proposed amendment is intended to overrule a Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court decision that legalized same-sex "marriage" in May 2004. An estimated 6,500 gay and lesbian couples have since married in the state.

If approved by voters, the amendment would require the state to define marriage "only as the union of one man and one woman." This would prohibit gay "marriage" after 2008, but would not affect established homosexual marriages.

"The people have not just spoken, they have shouted to let the people vote on the definition of marriage," Kristian Mineau, president of the Massachusetts Family Institute, which spearheaded the signature drive, told the Boston Globe.

As of press time Tuesday, no formal complaints had been filed against Knowthyneighbor.org.

"Post up the names of those for gay marriage."

That's not a bad idea! Of course, we couldn't do it here on Free Republic lest we have another MD4Bush witch hunt with the WaPost leading the herds.

"The list is a public document filed with the AG's Office. No one has in the past gone after it with this much zeal as using it for such direct action against signers would lead to retribution when the other sides refurendums come up. "

If there's any repercussions from these actions, the law might have to be changed to forbid access to these records.

One FReeper suggested getting the names of all the gay married couples in MA and posting them to a website. That would probably ignite both the NYT and the Post's ire.

The anti gun crowd does the same, posts names and addresses of anyone who gets a concealed carry permit for firearms. It is a form of "outing". It is not done for nice reasons.

Exactly. A few of the local TV stations & at least one of the weekly leftist papers here in Toledo did just that-once concealed carry was finally passed in Ohio.

Yes it would which makes it more the reason to do so.

That is cool. Plus since you saw their names on the list you don't have to worry about them being liberals!

Homosexual Agenda Ping.

More info on the miserable pit that used to be a nice state called "Massachusetts". Just think - everything changes, eventually Massachusetts will be livable again. Just when, no one knows. But the tide may be turning.

Read down the thread - comments 98 or thereabouts tells some of the background of the Nazgul - I mean "judges" - who forced homosexual marriage on everyone else.

Freepmail me and DirtyHarryY2K if you want on/off this pinglist.

It's pretty incredible when you think about it - four fallible (VERY fallible) so-called judges can change the meaning of "marriage". Can the they change the laws of nature? Turn night to day? Why do they think they can change what marriage is?

Not a matter of shame. It's a matter of these deviants having promised to go to the houses of the signers, and confront them, as well as picket the houses. Threats in other words.

Also, it isn't clear that someone could remove names, and not be the signer. As in the fraud link.

These people are vicious, there is no end to what they will do to stop this.

No, won't happen. In fact Barney the deviant Dinosaur, made a statement, which I believe was listed on townhall.com, that same sex marriage isn't an issue here. And the deviants have said most people were tricked into signing, and that's why they put the list up. Upstanding citizens that they are they want to make sure these poor people know and can report the fraud.

You're kidding right?? Look into these guys, and see who they are. Then couple that information with the fact that a LOT of the government officials in the state, including mayors, and legislators, are gay!

This violates the unwritten rule of challenge the signature, not the signer. This poisons the initiative petition process that MA residents have enjoyed since 1918. KTN says that it has 250 "anonymous" volunteers that will visit signers at home or at work. If anyone else is outraged at this attack on direct democracy please call Alexander Westerhoff and Thomas Lang at Alexander Westerhoff Antiques 144 Main St. Essex MA 978-768-6269.

I'm not that familiar with the politics in Mass., except for those articles that make our local liberal paper.

There is a trend for more gays and Latinos to get into politics so they have more clout with law/rule changes.
The way things have been going of late, America will be unrecognizable in a few generations.

Just like Arnolds beloved Kal-ee-forn-eee-a. Or Californicator's. Gays, liberals and union loving minorities screwing up the Golden State bigtime.

It isn't just the Golden State, it's the coastal (blue) states along both coasts.
