Hey, Troll, there have dozens and dozens of articles posted discussing Carter's betrayal of the Shah.
Why don't you give us all the links to the Middle East experts and historians who think that Carter WASN'T involved in ousting the Shah. And NO, Carter himself doesn't count
We'll wait..................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................

And what will it tell me? That the Shah was actually beloved by his people until they saw that Carter no longer supported him and that was the reason they turned on him?

It would tell you that he was liked by majority of Iranians!

Yes!

Carter deserves a rope. Not a noose. That would be too quick.

"That the Shah was actually beloved by his people until they saw that Carter no longer supported him and that was the reason they turned on him?"

That's pretty silly and simplistic.

Would really be interesting to hear what Zbigniew Brzezinski had to say about this period in history when Carter set the stage for Islamic Terror.

And his role in it.

Actually, Brzezinski felt very strogly & wanted Carter to support the Shah whatever it took. He knew that losing Iran as an ally would be a terrible mistake.

>>Carter was one of the worse presidents in American history. I was born in 1964, and he was the worse of my lifetime.

I'm 5 years older than you.

I used to think Clinton was the worst in my lifetime. Upon obtaining further self-education and better knowledge of the long-term effects of his Presidency, I then began to think it was Carter.

I am now of the opinion that I must split the award for "Worst President of my lifetime".

For foreign policy, it's Carter by a mile.

For domestic policy, it's LBJ by a mile. Even with Carter's domestic idiocy, he doesn't hold a candle to the long-term deleterious effects of LBJ's Great Society programs.

Yes!

Then why isn't he still in power? Carter's withdrawl of support is the sole reason why he was deposed? At the end he didn't have the religeous or the military or the middle class. Carter caused all that? What was left?

Carter sold out Iran big time

He sold out the entire world. A film should be made of this story.

Even if Carter stood solidly behing the Shah then how could he have kept him in power? The man had no support among his own people.

Through repression and intimidation, like any other normal Muslim leader, from Mubarak to the House of Saud.
