My best friends are Welsh and I've gone back there to hang out in north Wales. The thing you hear most about the Prince of Wales is "he's not MY bloody prince!" ;)

My great grandfather made an excellent choice in leaving Wales for America in 1863. I still have cousins in Pontrhydygroes, but I have no desire to be subject to the ghastly political system that has evolved in Wales and the UK in general. It is disgraceful to have Charles bearing the title "Prince of Wales". He's not even Welsh. Charles is a descendant of the house of Saxe-Coberg-Gotha...German. The last true Prince of Wales was Owain Glyndwr. The forces of King Henry V (English) finally subdued Glyndwr and Wales in 1409 and instituted draconian anti-Welsh laws. Henry VII (Welsh) subsumed Wales under English common law in 1485. The oldest legible headstones from my family in the Llanfihangel y Creuddyn cemetery date to around 1450. Most Welsh didn't use a surname until forced by English law in 1754.

Did Diana do all that? Can you enlighten me and others with some sources and stuff? Personally, I don't give a sheet about what Diana did after she found out that chuckie was still in love with the Wrinkles and her heart was broken into a million pieces. I probably would've done the same or worse, just to get back at him/it/horseface.

Back when Charles announced his engagement to Camilla there were a number of threads here on FR that detailed Diana's interesting past. Apparently Diana did not like her step-mother and pushed her down the stairs. She and her father didn't speak for 6 months after that. She was 14 or 15 at the time. Also on those threads - supposedly Diana threw herself down the stairs when she was pregnant and supposedly slept with more than 40 of her bodyguards, tennis pros, etc. Of course none of us were there - so whether or not it is true - who knows.

Here's my vitriol: first, I don't hate Charles, I never even spare a thought for him. Contempt is distinct from hatred, anyway. BUT, to have a pampered pompous Royalist trust fund baby come to our shores and preach leftist drivel to us is more than a bit offensive. If he wants to build "good will" between our two lands (and I have plenty of good will toward the UK anyway) then he should stick to ceremonial appearances, charitable causes, ribbon-cuttings, etc. As a pampered show horse he may still have some useful function; as a strategic or environmental sage he is worse than useless. He is not an intellect, not someone whose political opinions matter a bit to anyone here. A so-called "Prince" of whatever country is not a statesman, not an elected official, just a pitiful relic of an obscure age. Sure, he has the right to any opinions he cares to hold, but he should realize that no one but the deranged left cares that he thinks they are as stupid as he is. There, how's that for vitriol?
