THIRTY police were hurt, two of them seriously, when they were shot at while responding to unrest south of Paris, police said.

It is the 11th night of urban violence in Paris's run-down suburbs.

The riot squad officers were hit by buckshot fired from pistols and hunting rifles in the suburb of Grigny.

The two badly injured were hospitalised while the 27 others were treated on the spot.

One officer was slightly hurt by buckshot in nearby Draveil.

A school and a kindergarten were set on fire in the same region, police said, adding that 30 people were arrested.

The French are going to wait until someone is killed before they crackdown... At this point I think it is already too late.

Uh oh, it looks like it is time for the French to get serious about all of this. They need to break out the white flags.

Looks like Chirac's talking didn't appease them.

Watched Chirac tonight on the evening news. This wuss certainly could not inspire confidence in any populace under siege, even his brethren the French ... he (Chirac) came across as completely out of touch with reality.

I was thinking about that too. Of course its possible to get special loads I guess, but where I come from Buckshot is 00 we use #2and #4 for geese #6 for rabbits and squirrel anything smaller is called birdshot here, mostly for crows and other pests ,also good for skeet when the shooter isnt too good. 22 pistols can fire 22 birdshot loads as well as 22 rifles. Anyone who fires birdshot at a human is just trying to piss them off. Its hard to say what they were really shot with as most Journalists dont know which end the shot comes out of.

And still the cops don't shoot back and the military is not called in. Of course, if there is any sanity left in France, the right will win by a land slide or better yet, Chirac will collapse and the military will take over.

The MSM knows everything there is to know about firearms.

It is almost a badge of honor among the news elite to be clueless about guns. I remember one of the newsbabes on TV once talking about a guy that was shot by a "22 millimeter" pistol.

What do you expect from the "guns are icky" crowd?

Maybe the Iraqis can send over some of their troops to France, now that the evenings in most of Iraq are quieter than some French neighborhoods are. Perhaps they could train the French to protect themselves. That would sure be a tall order.
