Bill Cuts Funds To Fugitive Havens
Washington Times ^ | November 5, 2005 | Valerie Richardson

The House yesterday approved a $20.9 billion foreign-aid package that includes a provision to cut off funding to countries that refuse to extradite anyone suspected of killing a U.S. law enforcement officer.

The extradition section is aimed at resolving a long-standing treaty dispute with Mexico... the amount at stake [for Mexico] is about $40 million... Next week, the Senate is expected to approve the bill, which passed the House 358-39, and send it to the president for his signature.

As many as 4,000 fugitives have avoided arrest on murder warrants in the United States by fleeing to Mexico. An estimated 1,000 of those warrants were from California, including 400 from Los Angeles County, which also has three outstanding warrants for people suspected of killing a U.S. law enforcement officer.

This will be better than nothing but far more civilians have been murdered by illegal aliens than have law enforcement officers.

I can't wait until we have republicans in charge of the white house, the senate and the house of representatives so we can cut back on spending.

What can I say? They spend like a shopaholic using someone else's credit cards.

Worth repeating:

I hope I'm wrong but I can see this as the first Presidential veto of Bush's terms in office...

The bill goes to the Senate this week. Maybe they'll strip that from the legislation and then Bush won't have to call in the FBI to locate his veto pen.

"I can't wait until we have republicans in charge of the white house, the senate and the house of representatives so we can cut back on spending."

That would make an EXCELLENT tagline.
