Patient's wishes aren't important anymore, spouse trumps your own decision making if you're disabled.

I agree. "Patient's wishes" and "personal autonomy" are
deceptive propaganda only. And disregarding same is
becoming ever more blatant. And don't rely on family
unanimity either, I'm afraid, although this family was
not unanimous.

Living wills are of no value. The doctors don't even care if you have one. I know because I recieved calls asking for permission to remove my mother from a ventilator even though she had a will saying that she should be kept alive for at least two weeks to make sure that she would not recover.

I'd say that they have a resident that committed murder then.
