Thanks for the link. Judge Thomas's life is inspiring. I agree with you when you say "people who have sincerely confronted their own beliefs and failings, can be firmly committed to conservatism", but in Miers case I say where's the proof. She has a history of being liked by all sides, never making any enemies. The Rats love her. Harry Reid loves her. In her professional life she has no judicial record pro or con. We are told "trust me", "she's evangelical".

I'm sorry this is too darn important. I want a strong willed sharp minded judge who knows who they are and who we know who they are not some career minded "corporate gadfly".

I'm not up for a spot on the Supreme Court and neither is Frum. They put me up for one - well, I couldn't go. Don't know enough to do the job.

You are correct. Miers will likely be confirmed - and turn into Ms. Souter or worse.

Doubt I'm going to vote FOR anybody for President, given Republican fecklessness, Losertarian weirdness, and Democrat evil. Going to have to check out Issakson, Chambliss and Deal to see if they behaved themselves during the current excesses of our Republican Congress.

When the 'Pubbies start offering conservative candidates, I'll support 'em. President Bush ain't a conservative.

I am sure that you have always voted democrat or for a third moronic party, and you have never voted for President Bush.

She is the anti-Souter

I am saving this statement. I figure once she is on the court, I will get to post it back to you quite a bit.

liberals routinely put up liberals on the courts.

Sadly so do Conservatives, albeit mistakenly.

I prefer a more outspoken candidate, too.

But Miers's ability to get along with a lot of folks doesn't eliminate her as a candidate. Roberts got along with a lot of people.

You couldn't be more right! There are way too many people who are cheering for the home team no matter what they do.

Winds of change are in the air though. Delay has been pushed aside and will not be able to get clear before the next leadership election - Hastert might pay the price soon as well. Hopefully the conservative revolt will propel a true conservative into a leadership position. A real shake-up be coming and none to soon!

"corporate gadfly".

One man's "corporate gadfly" is another man's polymath.

Bush is down to 37%, the lowest presidential approval rating since the Carter years.

Either Frum is stupid or downright disingenuous.

Reagan, Bush41 and Clinton all found themselves below 40% approval at some point in their terms.
