I'm not black, but I find the shirt offensive and think he deserved a pounding - preferably from some SCV white student before the black kid even got to him.

The flag is NOT a racist symbol. The screen on the back obviously was. While I think the shirt is terrible, that does not give the black kid the right to hit the jerk in the stupid shirt. It certainly does not rise to the level of "fighting words."

I agree. But, I heard someone make the comment about the burning of the stars and stripes. He that burns the flag, has the right to do so, freedom of speech and all, but I have the right to punch him in the face. Both kids should be punished, at least a few days off from school. Nothing more, since both were standing up for their rights.
