Hillary Clinton: Bush Disaster Response Inadequate

2008 presidential candidate Hillary Clinton blasted the Bush administration on Sunday for what she said was its inadequate response to the Hurricane Katrina disaster, and called for a "Katrina Commission" to investigate allegations of bungling.

"The slow pace of relief efforts in the face of a mounting death toll ... seems to confirm that our ability to respond to cataclysmic disasters has not been adequately addressed," Clinton said, in quotes picked up by the New York Daily News. "It has become increasingly evident that our nation was not prepared," she charged in a bid to paint the White House as asleep at the wheel.

In an indication that Mrs. Clinton intends to make the Katrina disaster her cause celeb, she announced plans to travel to New Orleans today - ostensibly to be on hand while her husband unveils a new effort to raise relief funds for city flood victims.

The former first lady said she plans to introduce legislation to make the Federal Emergency Management Agency an independent Cabinet-level agency - the same status FEMA had during her husband's administration before it was subsumed into the Department of Homeland Security.

I didn't see down there helping. Her rear end could have plugged the hole in the levee with plenty of room to spare.

I think Hillary's disaster response was inadequate and slow, as well. She really could have exploited it for political gain much quicker and more effectively than this.

And of course Bill took the high ground today(proving once again scum can float to the top) He took the high ground about pointing fingers until all the dead people are rounded up that(Bites lip intently)...is while he paves the way for a Katrina commission to get a foothold on the blame game of President Bush.

Oops. Wrong thread.

This is what I meant to post:

An excellent, lengthy post that debunks the major lies told by the left about the levees, troop levels needed to respond to the crisis, and the response of the federal government.

I think Bush is handling this just right.

By ignoring these mosquitos he make them look petty. The criticisms have no traction because people can see the rescue efforts on TV.

You'll only hear about that here and talk radio. They have to keep their constituents in an idiotic stupor to gain a foothold for the next election, ya know.

Hillary needs to open her homes to the victims. And so does Barbra Streisand, John Kerry, Brad Pitt, and all the rest of them with their large and multiple mansions to share.

That should do it, Hillary. Every problem can be solved by 'legislation' which either creates more federal bureaucracy or rearranges existing federal bureaucracy.

The clintons are clearly ready to sacrafice a few low level Democrats (Blanco, Nagin, etc) in order to get to more Bush bashing. I wonder if it ever ocurred to them that Bush is not running for president again. I hope Sandy Burglar is out of prison/probation in time for the Katrina Commision to get underway?
