Iran, China Eye Military Cooperation
Persian Journal ^ | Aug 18, 2005

Posted on 08/18/2005 6:54:51 AM PDT by F14 Pilot

Iran received a military delegation from China, paving the way for cooperation in the defense field, citing Brigadier General Nasser Mohammadi-Far, the commander of the Iranian army's ground forces.

The Chinese delegation is in Iran for talks on "developing military relations, deepening bilateral ties and paving the way for military cooperation," the state-run Iranian news agency said. The press office of China's Ministry of Defense in Beijing declined to comment on the delegation's visit.

"Our mutual enemies possess advanced military technology, and undoubtedly they would rely on this technology in any possible future wars," said Mohammadi-Far. "Therefore, it seems necessary that both Iran and China upgrade their defense and military technology."

China is Iran's third-largest export market for crude oil, and ties between the two countries have strengthened in recent years as Iran started granting stakes in the development of its oil and gas fields. Iran, under U.S. economic sanctions and at odds with both the U.S. and the Europe Union over its nuclear program, is increasingly turning to the East for new markets, opening its economy in return.

Very worriesome development. Nations are aligning themselves, as we knew they would.

The obvious next step... And the likely alternative future for Iraq, if Saddam Hussein had not been deposed.

Iraq and Saddam Hussein would've become untouchable if he had developed relations with China. We already know they were talking... and imagine where world terror would be right now if a mad man like Saddam was still in control of Iraq, with billions of dollars in oil money, protected the Chinese shield, and actively using surrogates (terrorists) to attack the U.S. in Afghanistan, the Israelis, Europe, and here in America.

I think China has accelerated their relations with Iran to try and prevent Iran's mullahs from falling from power. I have a suspicion that in 2 years time we'll be looking at an unofficial Cold War with China, and a civil war in Iran with the U.S. funding the pro-Democracy rebels, and China funding the current regime. That's assuming the rebels ever rise up. Otherwise we'll just have an unofficial Cold War with China and a deadlock with Iran.

In keeping with your other pings...this is a very worriesome development as well on the geo-political landscape. Nations are aligning themselves.

You saw this clearly, Jeff. I am afraid that too many of our leaders are asleep at the switch.

This cannot be good.

Aren't you glad our government takes 5 Billion dollars a month of our tax dollars and gives it to this communist country to use against us under MFN.

It reminds me of 1930s.

Nazis, Fascists and other evil groups were uniting against democracies and free societies while free societies and democracies were fighting each other over different issues.

Now, radical islamists, fascists and commies are uniting against our free world while we (EU & US), again, are hating each other and busy with our differences over some issues

...and they are (the Chinese at least) embarking on massive military buildups to prepare for the conflict that is going to be of their making...also just like the late 1930's.

Probably yes, since your Abrams tank for example is equipped with a German gun and German chains. Did you know, that your "Strykers" are safe because of its German platings? The new US-gun "XM-8" is practically a German development. Not to speak about the Israelis, whose tanks could not move as long Germany doesn't deliver its RENCK transmissions. During some tensions between Germany and Israel Schroeders *ucking government holded back some of those gearboxes and the current MERKAVA production stopped for a while until Berlin decided to deliver again. Regardless of this irritation the new MERKAVA 4 is equipped with a German motor, a German transmission, a German cannon and German chains. There must be some reason for that.

Do you want more examples?

:-)

Jeff, please write or at least start conceptualizing a novel that has a different scenario, a happier one, than the one you wrote about.

It seems you are controlling the destiny of the world, and perhaps a different scenario would change things from their current progression.

China was starting to help out Saddam Hussein too. We have to go to war with Iran. If we are serious about the war on terror it continues on with Iran. Syria will also be a threat but not to the level Iran is now and Israel can always kick Syria's arse. We need to take Iran out and warn China that it will not be tolerated. Start to punish China with trade. And arm Taiwan with nukes now.
