That's arguable, tho. There is a real problem w/"legitimate" breeders. They are often the very 1s to blame for the breed going downhill.

Good point. It's a complex issue. AKC show folk have not been the best service to any breed.

Some AKC standards seem to be geared to produce an animal that is physically distorted and not capable of any normal function. In some cases they have features so exaggerated that it leads to an unhealthy dog.


People like coonhound breeders for instance, breed for performance, not appearance.
