All the works of the ancient Greeks would have been lost had it not been for Islamic scholars. That is about the only positive thing to come from that religion.
This is propaganda, I do believe. Have to look up my source, but, IIRC - pure propaganda, and of the untrue sort. They bear their share of library burning. Most of the stuff we saved from the muslim east was really saved by the Byzantines, and only via the others later.
