Al-Jazeera to look at open U.S. border

The Arab TV news network criticized by the new Iraqi government and others for its anti-American bias and willingness to carry the messages of terrorist organizations, including al-Qaida, is headed for the U.S.-Mexico border to document how easy it is to enter America illegally.

Al-Jazeera has contacted Minuteman Civil Defense Corps leader Chris Simcox to try to arrange interviews. Simcox, who rejected the request for cooperation with the TV network, says al-Jazeera, seen by millions throughout the Arab world and elsewhere, is producing an hour-long documentary news special on lack of security at the U.S. southern border.

Al-Jazeera reporter Naisser Hssaini mentioned the increase in apprehensions of illegal aliens known as OTMs – other than Mexicans. These foreigners increasingly include Arabs, Muslims and others from the Middle East. The reporter also mentioned his familiarity with the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement police of catching and releasing OTMS – particularly those not specifically known to be on any terrorist watch list.

"The group has been denied requests for interviews by Minuteman Civil Defense Corps organizers but they still insist on filming the groups’ activities along with the rest of the media during a July 4th weekend mission near Arivaca, Arizona," said Simcox.

Simcox has contacted the offices of Arizona's two Republican U.S. senators – John McCain and Jon Kyl – to invite them to do interviews with al Jazeera, "so perhaps they can explain to the viewers of this news outlet just how secure America's borders really are."

Is this story for real? One would think Al-Jazeera would use an ally like Dick Durbin to help them...no?

Maybe they could stop off at GWB's ranch while they're down there and ask him if there is any way possible for him to make it even easier to cross our joke of a border.

Simcox is such a publicity hound. Says he's not working with al-jerkzeera, but then says he calls his Senator's office to do interviews with the same network, that he "supposedly" isn't working with.

To cute by half, he should just admit he is working with al-jezzeera.

And for full disclosure, I support the Kyl/Cornun immigration reform bill.

Won't be long before one of our border sellouts tries to blame the minutemen for drawing attention to the problem we all knew about already.

Oops too late.

This cannot be good.

AJ is not going to spin this in any way that would be good for us, and I'm quite sure that they do not have our best interests at heart.

If an aspiring yard man can cross, what is to stop a determined terrorist?

We need to seal the border so tight a flea cannot cross.

And just for full disclosure...I like Senator Cornyn. I very much dislike his immigration bill.

Best quote from the story:

"Would we allow Japanese or German television to film the unsecured border during World War II?" asked Minuteman spokeswoman Connie Hair. "These people broadcast to the enemies of America. It's not a news story, it's recon."

This definitely sounds like a scouting mission by our enemy.

Border sellouts? I'm not a border sellout.

It's the self-called "border patriots" for all intents and purposes it seems is worling with the most anti-American and most pro-islamofascist propaganda organization there is, al-jezeera.

I seriously doubt that he is.
He is just taking advantage of a rather bizarre opportunity to embarass McCain.

McCain will simply ignore the entire thing.

Well, is Al'jeer'-jeera on a scouting operation for our terrorists? Trying to give them ideas, maybe? In fact, could terrorists be mingled with with their reporters? We need to bomb that TV network to rubble.

Syria could have put Al-Jazeera up to this, they (Syria) have been howling about how can they "can't be expected to seal their border with Iraq when the US can't do the same with Mexico" for years now.

I think al brazeira is trying to pretend to be doing a story
what they are really going to do is sneak their terrorist buddies across..

Shoot them

Make the invasion of the USA a felony

Oh, give me a break. You don't detect a bit of sarcasm in that quote about the Senators from Simcox? Simcox is alerting McCain and Kyl, as well as the border patrol, that an enemy TV network is on the way to do a scouting mission for the terrorists. It's ridiculous to suggest Simcox is working with that network in any way, shape or form. It sounds like Simcox is doing everything he can to alert American authorities of what's about to happen.

It would be nice if George W. Bush cared as much about our national security as Mr. Simcox does. Perhaps if Bush had his priorities in order, there would be no reason for the enemy's TV network to visit our border and publicize to the terrorist-filled Arab world how easy it is to cross illegally.

Good article. I'm sure the terrorista are already aware of our porous borders and are just waiting. They really don't have to attack us at present when they have Reid, Durbin, Pelousi, Clinton, Kennedy and the rest of the liberal/socialist/commie crowd destroying the Nation from within.

Say now, there's an idea! Maybe GWB could look into the possibility of a 'guest terrorist' residency program, I mean after all, if it's good enough for turning hundreds of thousands of illegal Mexicans into quasi-legal U.S. residents/workers, it would be an allah-send for all those disadvantaged
al Qaeda members who look at the U.S. border longingly...

...with explosives strapped to their backs, and boxcutters in their shorts.
