Elderly Woman Left Humiliated by 'Happy Slapper' Attack

An 81-year-old woman’s trip to the West Country was ruined when she was attacked by a “happy slapper” in a city centre, police said today.
The woman, from Sidcup in Kent, was smacked in the face in front of a group of jeering teenagers.
The pensioner was visiting Salisbury in Wiltshire when she was subjected to the humiliating attack.
She was walking to rejoin her husband and son after collecting a prescription from a Boots chemist when a youth slapped her hard on the cheek and poured a drink over her.
The youth’s friends captured the attack on their mobile camera phones while a group of teenage girls on a nearby bus looked on laughing, police said.
A passer-by stopped to clean the drink off the woman, who was not seriously injured but left “extremely shaken”.
The incident took place last Friday but was only reported by the woman’s son to his local police yesterday.
A spokesman for Wiltshire Police said: “We are appalled by this attack by youths on an elderly woman. For this to happen in Wiltshire, let alone the cathedral city of Salisbury, is unthinkable.
“We are appealing for the young people who saw it to examine their consciences and contact police, anonymously on CrimeStoppers if necessary.”
Why? No one strikes back, the police seem powerless, the thugs get away with assaulting people on a daily basis. Why be appalled when the society, by its inaction, encourages this barbarity.
Yeah, that'll work. Where are these kids parents? There really does need to be an uprising of the mushy middle over there. There comes a time when enough is enough and if they don't stand up now, they will have no country to stand for in the very near future.
None of that nonsense happening here in TX or FL where citizens are not required to drop their pants and bend over for criminals and miscreants.

Me and my dad were talking about something similar last night (some asshat decided to key 13 cars on are street, including mine. To say everyone on the street is in full vigilante mode is an understatement) and we got talking about old people being taken advantage of by kids and came to a conclusion. Elderly people should just shoot punk kids in the leg. It'll make people think twice before they start screwing around with the elderly. Sort of like the Seinfeld episode where the old guy steals. Honestly what are they going to do them?
This is terrible. When the respect for mature people erodes to such a point as represented in this article, there's no hope for this society. It's alarming this has taken place in the UK.
