Guardianship is based on two faulty assumptions: That the court will provide oversight and that the guardian will be honest and discharge his/her duties toward the ward responsibly.

When families and friends of wards discover that the guardian is not acting responsibly, or worse, is stealing the ward’s money or property, they come up against a wall of indifference, a court system which favors the guardian and a judicial system where the level of proof required for action is located in documents sealed by the court for the “protection” of the ward. And calling the police results in hearing that “this is a civil matter.”

When families hire an attorney to petition the court to remove a guardian and replace him/her with someone in which the family has confidence, these attempts most often fail. The guardian doesn’t relinquish control. Instead, the guardian fights the family in court, using the ward’s money to do so. Here in St. Petersburg, the court rules against the family most of the time.

I don't know why I even get shocked by this stuff anymore. It's so hedious, it is almost unreal or unbelieveable. Guess the phrase *Follow the Money Trail* applies in Terri's case too. From what I read in the above article, rarely does the family win against the court.

The site is full of very interesting information. Thanks for the link, FUE~!! Doesn't anyone in power care about defenseless elders or the disabled? Delay is being blasted for his outrage over this horror. Does Delay's treatment send a message to any politican who tries to stop this crap? Yeah, it probably does.

ALL true. I think most politicians lost their nerve and bowed to the phoney MSM polls. If they can get away with doing nothing, I would guess that is what they will do.
