WASHINGTON - FBI agents searching the former home of convicted Oklahoma City bombing conspirator Terry Nichols found explosive materials, including blasting caps, that appear to date before the deadly 1995 attack, agency officials said Friday.

FBI Agent Gary Johnson said the discovery was prompted by a recent tip and that preliminary information unearthed with the explosives at the Kansas home indicated the material had been there a long time.
"The information so far indicates the items have been there since prior to the Oklahoma City bombing," Johnson said in an interview from Oklahoma City.
The discovery could prove an embarrassment to the FBI and other federal authorities who had searched the Nichols' property in Herington, Kan., extensively during the original investigation a decade ago.
Nichols, who is serving multiple life prison sentences, hasn't lived there for years.
Johnson said the FBI was still searching the property and trying to determine whether the explosive materials might be connected to the bombing.

Just getting around to it you know. One day we will get the whole thing computerized.
Maybe John Does # 2, 3, 4, 5 ,and 6 dropped them off there before they went down to Florida for flight training...
;)
What do you expect, it took nearly a month to find explosives in the unibombers 10 by 10 shack.
Everybody with an interest in the OKC bombings should read "The Third Terrorist" by Jayna Davis. An eye opening read.
Is that like an ooooooooops???
Funny this story breaks today...I was just thinking earlier that it's now April and OKC was exactly 10 years ago this month....
The discovery could prove an embarrassment to the FBI and other federal authorities who had searched the Nichols' property in Herington, Kan., extensively during the original investigation a decade ago.
He cleverly painted Cookbooks over the word Explosives on the outside of the crates, making it virtually impossible for the FBI to correctly classify the contents.

COULD prove embarrassing??? This was supposedly one of the most extensive FBI investigations in history and they didn't find stuff like this in the very house that Nichols lived in at that time????? How many times do we have to see the FBI looking like the Keystone Cops????
Keystone cops uh?
An embarassment to the 1995 Reno-Gorelick FBI.
But then that was already an embarassment.
Encouraging to see things still coming to light.
Ditto that re Davis's book.
Former CIA director James Woolsey endorses her research and book.
FBI guy #1: "Did you check the basement?"
FBI guy #2: "I thought you checked the basement."
What else you think they have missed?
Same effect you get when you paint "Baby Formula" over "Anthrax".
They had breaking news last night about this.
Boy, those FBI agents sure are sleuths to have missed this.

I am not a former anything, but I still endorse it.
They reportedly were hid in the walls.
But, I would have thought the FBI would have bothered to check the walls since stuff gets buried there a lot. I guess not.
