This morning President Bush delivered a powerful and inspiring foreign policy speech at the National Defense University at Fort Lesley J. McNair, regarding the emerging freedom in the Middle East and the overall War on Terror. He also greeted Czech Republic President Vaclav Klause in the Oval Office, discussing regional security and dipolomatic issues.
First Lady Laura Bush, accompanied by Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, spoke today at a conference to mark International Women's Day at the State Department, meeting in round table discussions with leaders of 15 Muslim nations to urge women in the Middle East to push for democracy in the region.
This afternoon, President Bush met with former Presidents Bush and Clinton in the Oval Office, welcoming them back from their good will mission to the tsunami victims, and the ex Presidents gave a report on what was accomplished. Laura also spoke at the Helping America's Youth initiative in Milwaukee, Wisconsin this afternoon. A busy day for our First Couple!
President Bush's strong foreign policy is resulting in the stirring of freedom in the hearts of people around the world, so it's a good time to be a Bushbot! Enjoy your Daily Dose, and your trip to Sanity Island!

"I don't do carrots." Bwahahahaha!! Here's from an Australian paper on Bolton:
But Mr Bolton, who keeps a model hand-grenade on a table in his office and who counts his work on the 1991 repeal of a UN General Assembly resolution equating Zionism with racism as a career highlight, did nothing yesterday to allay concerns about his aggressive, doctrinaire approach to diplomacy.
The UN, he said, "requires American leadership to achieve successful reform".
That aroused instant dismay at the UN, where negotiations are in progress for an ambitious program of reform to be put before a world leaders' summit in September.
Sounds as if there is going to be some "fun" with this guy.
prairie.....love your 'lamestream' media! LOL. How appropriate.
Great pic, snugs - you have a gift for picking the very best ones.
How are you tonight? I saw the lovely pictures of your mum...she seems at peace, yes?
Very kind eyes...much like yours, I'm guessing.
As for Dubya aging, any of us looking the same as we did nearly five years ago?
Certainly, not me!
Josh Bolton has been around DC and government and think tank positions for years, but I found this article interesting .. especially that it's almost two years old, and even then, W was committed to overhauling Social Security:
===========================
OMB's Josh Bolton: Social Security Still Priority for President July 21, 2003
At a July 15th press briefing, Office of Management and Budget Director Josh Bolton stressed President Bush's long-term commitment to Social Security reform. Bolton explained that moving Social Security toward a system that includes personal accounts would prevent large deficits that would endanger the system's ability to provide promised benefits in the future. His statement follows:
Q: If the President gets a second term, is it still his ambition to enact Social Security reform?
Director Bolton: First, it definitely is on the President's agenda to pursue Social Security reform. It's critical that we do so The President has talked about the direction in which he wants to move Social Security. And he's very committed, very interested in pursuing that through legislation with the Congress, which will be a substantial undertaking, will require a major national dialogue and a lot of work with the members of Congress to accomplish it. So the short answer is, yes, very much on the agenda.
The numbers I'm announcing today underscore the necessity of making very important reforms and strengthening the Social Security system, because we need to put it on a sound footing to be sure that the promises that have been made will be promises that can be kept several generations from now.
The short term isn't the problem. People at or near retirement today will get all of their Social Security benefits. But if you look out in the long term, if we stay on the trajectory we're on, as I said in response to the previous question, the resources will not be there to support the program. And that's why we need to move to the kind of system that was suggested by the Social Security Reform Commission the President appointed last year toward creating an opportunity for people to set aside some of their own money in personal accounts that can actually grow in a way that will provide them the sort of benefits that they can and should expect from a good Social Security system.
g'day oWf! Bit late (been at a training course - ugh - my head hurts)...but thank you for the Dose today. Some lovely shots of Laura and Condi! :0)
I can't lay claim to the "lamestream " media term, it's all over FR etc. But you're right it's very accurate.
Howdy...MUD
That Wash Post article you linked has several other links to more articles about Bolton. Most of the authors are in a snit about it.
Plus it has a few links to the "OMG, what if Bush was right all along?" articles that I take so much gloating satisfaction in these days.
