I agree. Even if the DNA doesn't pan out, there should be some anatomical clues if it really is microcephaly.

One of the early articles (in Nature?) claimed that there were seven skeletons. The odds of all of them having microcephaly seems small. That would be along the lines of the claim that all Neanderthals were all arthritic in exactly the same way.
