Do I believe in UFOs? Absolutely.

I am firmly of the opinion that people around the world, on many an occassion, have looked up in the sky and not known what they were looking at.

Arthur Clark once wrote of an experience - sitting at the Opera House in Sidney, he was looking out over the harbor and saw these strange, flickering lights.

Turned out to be sunlight, reflecting off the ocean, and then off the bottoms of gulls' wings.

I am absolutely certain that people have seen things that they could not understand. That looked like nothing they'd ever experienced or conceived of.

But I have significant doubts about whether any of those were alien spaceships.

In 1966 in downtown Mexico City, traffic stopped, (me too), and hundreds of people on the street were staring upwards. I jumped out of my car and looked too and saw two silvery objects that seemed to be suspended in the air, quite high up, but below the cloud cover. I immediately thought they were balloons that some kid had let fly, but they were stationary for about two minutes. Then they sped off at terrific speed up through the clouds. What were they? The news media went wild with outer space speculations and they took good pictures and films of the event.

The next day at home, we heard the neighbors shouting we should look up. All of us five family members went to the roof only to see another silver object overhead. It also sat in one place for a while and then sped off at great speed. OK, now what was it that all the neighbors and we saw? I have no answer yet, but they certainly were not balloons.

I concur. There are quite a few people here in my area that have seen things that they couldn't explain. Usually it is a light that is hovering close to the ground, that suddenly takes off at blinding speed, or a light, or even several different lights that are whizzing around close to the ground. One old guy would grab his gun and go outside, and he said they would just suddenly "go out". Not large objects either. Their stories are pretty consistent with each other for the most part.

The sightings were definitly real and not made up or imagined. These were solid folks who were honest and weren't trying to push a book or something. Probably some phenomena of nature, possibly even something of the militaries doing since we live close to a very large base, but I'd lean towards the former.
