I just read this on Packing.org a website dedicated to Concealed Carry issues. I haven't found anything on FR about this other than the one l;ast night about him being near death. Also haven't found any other articles on it. His website is down too.

RIP Neal Added by AC_Pilot on Monday, January 17, 2005 at 6:04 PM
He was a true American hero and kept the NRA's tailfeathers on fire many times when they would have caved. He always diligently stood for the 2nd's original intent and his insights into legislation and the future plans of the antis were instrumental in my awakening to the anti's end game. He produced the "Hard Core" report in each issue of the Shotgun News, informing us what was upcoming and what needed to be stopped, NOW. My lady and I will mourn his passing. May he find peace now and great promise in due time.

Oh no. That's too bad.
We've lost one of the good ones in the 2nd Amendment fight.
His columns go back years in SGN.

A truly sad moment in the struggle for the sustainment of our 2nd Amendment rights. Neal Knox was a great champion of American freedom, and leaves big shoes to fill.
Every responsible gun owner should say a small prayer of thanks for his contributions to our freedoms.
His column was half the reason there's a BIG pile of old Shotgun News issues in my garage, right next to my gun bench. Now I have another reason to hang onto them.
Let's see how long it takes SeeB.S. to demonize him as a "right-wing, gun-nut crackpot" (BTW, that's my ideal epitaph), if they even mention him at all.

Sad news. He was a hard core RKBA activist, but a very nice man. I had the pleasure of meeting him years ago when I started getting active in the RKBA arena, and our paths crossed a number of times after that, at hearings and meetings in MD and DC. What a nice man, but at the same time he was also a real fighter for gun owners' rights.
I'll say a prayer for him and his family.

We just lost a genuine American patriot.

Hate to hear that. He was one of our best defenders of the right to keep and bear arms.
