ISLAMABAD, Jan 12: Suicide bombers are not necessarily uneducated, poor and psychopaths but are as much economically well-off as their surrounding population.
These views were expressed by a leading Australia-based Pakistani sociologist, Dr Riaz Hassan, who was delivering a lecture on suicide bombers here on Wednesday.

Dr Hassan described some novel facts and figures he had gathered while conducting his ongoing research on suicide bombers. About 66 per cent of the Palestinian suicide bombers were high school or university graduates.

To the surprise of many, Dr Hassan said, there had been a considerable decrease in the number of terrorist activities committed since 1990s compared to that of 1987. However, the number of suicide bombers was increasing...

He said suicide bombing constituted only three per cent of the total terrorist activities, but caused 48 per cent of all deaths....

Describing the results of suicide attacks, Dr Hassan said it had been successful in October 1983 when Hezbollah targeted Americans and French international peace keeping forces and compelled them to leave Lebanon. Since the second Intifada, he said, the Israelis had started redefining Palestinians from 'uneducated cruel' to 'educated cruel' after facing suicide attacks from Hamas.
Despite the success of various law enforcement organizations to reduce the number of terrorist activities, the ratio of suicide bombers, who caused more destruction due to the easy availability of modern weapons and explosives, was going up gradually.

They may not be poor or uneducated. They are definitely sociopaths or psychopaths. The article also supports the stereotype on Fox TV's 24 this season that CAIR is complaining about...upper middle class sleeper agents hiding in the U.S.
Don't see anything barf-worthy in the article. All seems factual and conforms with a variety of other studies; it conflicts with the whole "poverty causes terrorism" line; most terrorists are wealthier and better educated than the general population they come from.
Is there another best seller here?
I doubt very many at all would meet most of the psychological criteria to be either. Being a murderer doesn't mean you're a sociopath or psycopath.
Might be educated, but dead.
They are educated to sacrifice themselves from very young for the greater glory of their moon god in their cult...

So what are the 97% non-lethal activities? Tiddlywinks? Backgammon?? OH!, I get it!!! Wailing on top of the tower driving everyone crazy!
.....or maybe they spend 97% of their time indoctrinating thier children into being suicide bombers so they won't have to do it.
NPR?
They educate themselves in the art of "suicide bombing". All their education in engineering, science and technology is meant only to achieve one goal, one purpose: more sophiticated terrorist attacks. They have only one "real" education that is the radical "wahabi" Islamic Education which overrides everything else. Any other education or skills they acquire is only meant to arm themselves with more deadlier weapons to carry out their "holy war".
I dunno, I've heard that high doses of NPR can be toxic.
(To the mind, at least.)
