I thought the same thing as I read this. I am sickened to think that a mother would do this her child. My husband and I wanted more children, but a medical condition left me unable. Adoption is so expensive, it is out of our reach. We fostered one child who we hoped to adopt, but the mom changed her mind at the last minute. I ache to hold and love another child and I would give almost anything I own to have another. I can't understand this.

Yep, combined with our male-dominated society. Remember the apologist trash written by feminazi "progressives" in defense of Andrea Yates horribly hunting down and drowning every one of her children? The punishment should fit the crime. No one capable of such an atrocity can ever be cured, never be rehabilitated and can never become a productive member of society. She needs to be put out of hers and society's misery.

I feel your disgust...in a separate thread I made the unpardonable mistake of recommending the use of medical marijauna to relieve the nausea and pain of dying cancer patients.... The responses were brutal... One joker even stated that George Soros was behind my plot.... Civility may need a check-up here at FR.....
I believe she was on prescription drugs, but I don't know which drugs they were. For all the good modern medicine offers, and I am part of this field, some practitioners and patients abuse prescription drugs. I understand, in this case, there had been Texas Child Protective Services seeing this woman for many previous child abuses with this same child. Need better acumen in that field. The woman who had seen her for abusing her children stated she was a victim of postpartum psychosis. I would feel better if this diagnosis was coming from a medical practitioner.
End times alert.
It's not a question of defending the act - reason dictates that one suspends judgment when the details of the case are not available.
