A US marine has sparked world-wide revulsion after being seen shooting an injured and helpless Iraqi.
The sickening scene was broadcast by Channel 4 News after a fire-fight in the rebel stronghold of Fallujah.
The trigger-happy soldier had been asked to get nearer to the injured man.
But instead of trying to capture him, the marine is seen leaning over a wall and cold-bloodedly shooting him.
He then turns to his colleagues and says: "He's gone". Coalition chiefs were last night under pressure to investigate the incident
What the hell was he doing in the city anyway?
If I were an innocent Iraqi, I would have left long ago.
The SOB got his 7 virgins & that Marine's life was safe, at least from that misfit.
Now why the Marine didn't take the opportunity to snuff the quisling mediot while he was at it, is a mystery to me.
Word gets out to the Corps the quislings are doing this kind of "reporting"?

You're right on the money, the Marine didn't take aim at all, his shot was quick and for effect more than anything else. I too thought when the Marine said "he's gone", that he meant the guy got away. There's no way in hades that the shot he fired was aimed at anything in particular.

He was shot and wounded (maybe critically) because he was the ENEMY and FIRING on Marines and GIs!

Take another look; the shot was not aimed and was random, and he said of the insurgent they were looking for, "he's gone". He didn't say "he's dead". The shot he fired was not aimed and appeared to be just was to cover himself as he stuck his head over the wall to look. I don't believe that Marines or soldiers, in heat of heavy combat, say of a killed enemy "he's gone". They would say "he's dead".
I'll give our soldiers the benefit of the doubt. And, I'm sure this 'poor, helpless' man was no shirking violet. Let's hope they made an example out of him to the rest of the 'insurgents'.
Then you have better eyesight than anyone. I did not see what the Marine shot. All I saw was the Marine shoot his weapon, I did not see who or what he shot.

Kinda reminds me of the footage of the Apache gunship popping "farmers" in the desert that had the Euroweenies in a dither. The full tape showed the "farmers" to be terrorists laying out RPGs and other stuff to prepare for an ambush. They became "pink mist" for their trouble.
Who cares whether it was "done" or "gone" or whether the terrorist was shot by our guy or not? There is nothing to be "outraged" about regardless of what happened in that alley.
Great post. No one here knows for sure what happened immediately prior to the Marine's actions. Life you said, if someone thinks they can do a better job and produce positive results, they should enlist pronto. I'll provide the gas money for you to drive them to the nearest recruiter.
Off topic, buy maybe you, as a Vietnam veteran, can help. The picture taken of the Viet cong being executed...the bullet to the side of the head..I think it was in Time magazine so many years ago...wasn't there something significant that happened before the street execution that failed to make it out to the general public. They just saw/read what the journalist wanted them to see. I faintly recall someone telling me that the prisoner had committed a horrible act, but it completely excapes me.
