Iranian agents captured in Falluja

Baghdad, Nov. 13 - Ten Iranian agents were arrested during a raid on a local mosque in Falluja following attacks by coalition forces. News of the arrests came at a press conference by the heads of the multinational and Iraqi forces in Falluja.

The mosque had been housing at least 300 militants with 110 of them confirmed to be foreign nationals.

The latest arrests follow a string of reports blaming Iran’s religious regime of backing insurgencies in an attempt to halt the democratic process in Iraq.

The head of security in Soleimaniya (northern Iraq), Brigadier General Sarkout Hassan Jalal, said earlier this week, “Paramilitary forces secretly bring fresh forces from Iran into Iraq, and then take them to Falluja and other places.”

The Al-Sabah daily wrote on Nov. 8, “Iraqi National Guard forces arrested eight Iranians as they were blowing up food storages and other centers in Kut. After preliminary interrogations of those arrested, it became clear that they were blowing up a storage room where election ballots were stored. Voters will receive one of these cards to participate in the upcoming elections by showing their birth certificate.”

Last week, Iraqi Prime Minister Iyad Allawi urged the European Union to use its influence over Iran to stop them from "fuelling violence" in his country. Iraqi President Ghazi al-Yawar also accused Iran of orchestrating attacks in Iraq. "Iran is playing a negative role in Iraq. It is behind the assassination of more than 18 Iraqi intelligence officers. It is also playing a negative role in southern Iraq," Yawar told Kuwait's Al-Qabas newspaper.

Maybe we should call the UN/EU since they are so good at stopping Iran with their nuclear facilities...(sarcasm).

There was a time in the US when an act of war like this would result in military action against that country.

Surely they were immunized by telling the US forces that they are friends of
Jimmy Carter.
(which is probably the truth)

We might start small, with say a complete naval blockade of all imports to or exports from Iran. Perhaps right after the IAEA farce wraps up.

It's beginning to seem as if "mosque" is the Muslim word for "barrack". Why the hell is it tolerated for paramilitary forces to be "housed" in a place of worship?

A "reply" to Iran was imminently in the works, but I assume tweaked a bit with this news.

You know, this is tough, on one hand, there have been massive demonstrations against the Mullahs, and you don't want to risk alienating them by invading. On the other hand, how can you afford to let the mullah's continue to aid terrorism in Iraq?

Don't the Iranians and Iraquis hate each other to the death because of the war in the 8o's. Maybe the foreign terrorists have made a big mistake by using Iranians.I"m pretty sure the Iraqui population will be incensed by that and that it will make it very difficult for any cleric to encourage the support of the terrorits.I think that's why this announcement focuses on Iranians capture, and not so much on other nationalities.

Arabs [most of the mid-east] and Persians [Iranians] don't like eachother in general much less two countries that have fought a 8 year war. This will definitely not go well with the Iraqi populace.

'Cause of the Muslim outrage inspired when Crusaders attack mosques. Same reason these cowards embed themselves near hospitals and schools. Betcha many of these noble insurgents are sneaking in and out battle zones dressed as women hidden behind veils.

We can't. They have the blood of our best dripping from their hands.
