My history books said the south lost the Civil War, but apparently that was just a battle. The south lost the battle of 1861-1865, but now are winning the war.

If you ever do as much as I do for the Republican/Conservative/Bush cause, I'ld be shocked. I can see where the idea that blacks should be able to attend the schools that they want to, eat where they want to, shop where they want to, worship where they want to would be upsetting. And it's sad that the south was forced to accept it. But I still believe that it's better than forced segregation even if you don't agree.

I disagree, but assuming that your statement is true then at least it would be voluntary. The federal action was in reaction to government sanctioned forced segregation.

One of the few conversations that didnt turn into an bitter argument had to do with the real reason why we fought the Civil War. It's great to see that after a century and a half (roughly) the South may just help us defeat liberalism in this country.
