O'Reilly's Blunder Today

Posted on 09/16/2004 9:41:39 PM PDT by ArmedNReady

Today, on the Radio Factor, Bill O'Reilly had just finished telling a caller that he (Bill) had studied everything there was to know about John Kerry and his plans, when the caller asked him why he felt that Kerry would be strong on defense. The called said that Kerry said he would withdraw all of the troops from Iraq in 6 months, then 2 years, then 5 years. To which O'Reilly replied that Kerry never said he would withdraw the troops in 6 months and repeatedly to the caller that he was wrong.

O'Reilly has become a mere shadow of his former self, and the victim of his own celebrity and success

I call it "The McLean Stevenson" syndrome.

He is really a Libertarian. That's why people can't figure him out. He has no core except that he's "fair". They make me sick because they say they will let me do my thing and they will do theirs but they won't judge. They feel superior because they feel they are the smartest ones on the planet because they just want to get along.

Well, after 53 years of living, you find out that right is right and left is wrong. There is evil and wrong in the world and some SOB's need killin. He's one of these that doesn't believe in abortion but doesn't want to dictate to you what to believe. Anybody with core beliefs is a far right winger. Just listen to him say he doesn't care what people do in there bedroom as long as he doesn't have to look at it. He will accept abortion, but won't kill the murderer. Says thats against his religion. Well, so is sodomy, and abortion. These lukewarm, double minded, fence sitters, can't ever make a stand for anything because they want to be "fair".

He wants to ban SUV's because it's not "fair" for the rest of us. He want's to ban the death penalty because the guy "might" be innocent and it would be more "fair" to have hard labor for life. We lost forced labor a long time ago through "fair"(extreeme sarcasm) court rullings. That's enough,..... bedtime./rant!

I hope he gets the can soon. Surely Murdock can find a way.

Not anytime soon...he just signed a new 5-year contract. And even in second place, his ratings are so high Fox isn't going to let him get away -- thus the ego....NOW if H&C start beating him with regularity he'll get the message.

What upsets me more than anything is his lack of research; he's not up on what's happening and prides himself for not reading internet... he's sadly mis-informed.

Did he every have Annie Jacobsen on his show about her Terror in the Skies articles?

Who do you think people would most love to throw over a cliff ....O'Regally or Rather ?

O'Really is hated by both the right and the left (that's gotta hurt)... the left think he's a Rush Limbaugh clone, the right think he's a left leaning blowhard.

I find him to be star-struck. I don't have cable so I haven't seen his TV show in months, and I only listen to him for a few mins on the radio, but he seems to really enjoy name dropping, and is overly impressed by the celebs he has on his show.

Reminds me of a story about when I was working at a pizza joint in my youth. The store owner, a nice enough guy, just kind of a dunce about a lot of things, was really involved in Amway. He would have all of his Amway friends over at the restaurant for meetings and such, and it was all kinda silly the way the owner worshiped these "diamonds" and "emeralds" and "rubys"...

One day, the owner wasn't there when one of the "diamonds" came into the restaurant. And he wanted some strange request which we didn't allow. And he got all big and huffy and said, "Well, I know ."

I turned to him and said, "Yeah? So do I. It's his policy I'm enforcing."

So, name dropping, whether it be from a "Diamond" or from Bill O'Realy, doesn't impress me.

[note: nothing against Amway, the company. Great people Rich De Vos and Jay Van Andel. Good products and an innovative marketing plan that should be studied. Just some real whack jobs that sell the stuff.]

If he pisses off both sides a bit that would probably just improve his ratings.

I'd say the Rush Limbaugh way of just pissing off one side has a better track record of improving ratings.

In other words, BO is a coward. He doesn't take a stand. I know, because I have been there before -- its easy to stay on the fence and not choose a side, pretending that the fence doesn't make a good chair, and that you are being the high and mighty Zeus, watching the other little people below you on both sides bickering amongst themselves. He does admit he has an opinion and a side, but he pretends that he doesn't let it influence his self-appointed office of "caretaker of the people". He believes we need him because we need to be looked out for, as his book so clearly articulates. So in essence, he is always lying - hiding his true opinion to get ratings and power, under the pretense of having no opinion so that he can protect us from the "bomb throwers" on both sides. Anyone with half a brain can see that this is all hogwash. No one human can be completely objective. Not only that, in the reality of life, you always need to choose a side. Theoretically we can think and ponder both sides - step back and look down on them, just like you can stand back and decide whether to eat the cookie or not eat the cookie. Ultimately though you HAVE to choose. You are going to do it or you are not...so in the same way, you are either going to be LEFT or RIGHT - you can't be both or neither one..but poor BO doesn't see that his "STRAIGHT AHEAD" is someone elses LEFT or RIGHT. And that is because he is to self-absorbed to even begin to understand relativity.

He does it all the time. He pretends like he's truly informed when, in fact, he's typically 70% (or less) informed, but likes to pretend he's 110% informed. It's really irritating & why I try not to watch or listen to him anymore ;)

I think throw O'Reilly off the cliff, then Rather would jump right behind him trying to get O'Reilly to blame BUSH for pushing him before they could hit the ground. Makes sense to me, we can get a two fer one like that!
Wifey ;-)

O'Reilly also wrote a blurb on the back of Doug Brinkley's book about Kerry, "Tour of Duty"

"Doug Brinkley succeeds in humanizing John Kerry, something the senator often has trouble doing himself. Tour of Duty is an incisive look at a man who would be president." -- Bill O'Reilly

Bill O'Reilly went to the infamously liberal Kennedy School of Government at Harvard for a few years after his gig at "Inside Edition"

Some months ago, O'Reilly discussed proposed government programs to promote marriage by paying couples a yearly stipend to get and stay married. He theorized that this would be a good thing because it would raise the per capita income greatly and reduced the need for government handouts. (Yea, lets give them more money so we don't have to give them more money!) His premise was based on the fact that married households have a higher per capita income than unmarried households, so he surmized if these unmarried people got married, their income levels would rise.

Of course, Bill doesn't have the intellect for analytical reasoning to know that his theory falls apart when it is given a cursory overview. He fails to account for the fact that unmarried people may not have the ability to undertake long term commitments and hence, not get an education, a decent job and stick with the job to advance themselves. He thinks that giving money to "Ms. Crack Whore" and "Mr. Crack Head" to get married is going to turn them into neurosurgeons. Some people just are never going to be able to rise above a certain level.

I called the Radio Factor to point out the obvious flaws in this logic and I was stonewalled by the screener even though there was plenty of time left in his show.

O'Reilly just does not want to admit he is wrong!

I used to an O'Reilly fan - but no more.

In his efforts to appear impartial, it seems he has been intimidated by criticisms from the far left.

He is no longer reliable.

Too bad he just signed a five year deal with FOX news. He needs to be replaced.

very accurate description. Boy was that one guy that was big one day, left the hottest show ever, and then disappeared completely. What an idiot.

I think that Oh Really has gone over to the dark side.

His defense of Rather really offended me. I think he might be fishing for a job at C-BS.

I also believe that his flippant dismissal of the Swift Boat Veterans against Kerry was wrong.

I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't come out of the closet as a Kerry supporter this election.
